Tasted over two days, and it showed better on the second. Quite a testable Reserva Rioja, the variety and oak treatment showing prominently. 89-90.

Very modern, clean, expensive oak (but well judged), good concentration. Just boring though. I knew Rioja could be bad (simple commercial dollied up with vanilla oak, or more serious wine spoiled by far too long musty old oak). And also quirky, and/or great. But I didn't know it could be boring. 14% ABV, sealed with cork. Best left a few years to see if it develops character.

This is a very smooth crowd pleaser. Cherry liquor, dark chocolate and sweet tobacco. Silky and rich with a bright acidity intense dark berry flavor and long finish. Alcohol is not very balanced.
