PNP Big, powerful, and bold. Absolute steak wine. Coffee, chocolate, blueberry cream, chocolate raspberry, baking chocolate, pure steak wine from the start. Not much on transitions or flavor changes, but delicious throughout the 2 hour drink. This wine is comparable to good $500 plus wines I have had in the past. Very enjoyable.

Two hour decant. Nearly opaque electric magenta color. Blackberry, plum, chocolate bar, clove, vanilla wafer, and orange gum drop. Smooth, dry palate, with seemingly soft acidity. Firm, lower intensity tannins on the longish finish. Everyone thought the F-M version of the Tierra Roja was slightly better than the vineyard’s own label. Both are made by Benoit. It was very fun doing the side-by-side comparison.

Two hour decant. Inky electric magenta color. Blackberry, black cherry, blueberry, paprika-dusted chocolate pie (with salted crust), marshmallow, and subtle sweet tobacco. Smooth, dry, full bodied palate, with vibrant acidity. Firm tannins on the longish finish. This is rich, ripe, and chocolatey. My wife noted that it drinks like a meal. Still quite youthful, with tons of oak influence, but oh so good.

Deep juicy shining purple color. Nose has dark fruit, chocolate, graphite minerality laced with ripe dark berries, (cassis emerges after 90 minutes), dry mint chocolate vanilla brownie. Approximately three hour decant. Nearly opaque electric ruby color. Really ripe black cherry, chocolate covered Rice Krispies bar, thyme, plum, and subtle violet. Dry, silky palate, with very fine acidity. Fuzzy, medium intensity tannins on the long finish. This is a very easy drinker, but very youthful and quite confectionery. It’s a bit more acid driven than I expected, but the tannic structure is also there. Really only needs one or two hours of air.

Great wine night with Mr/Mrs DQ.....we pre-gamed with two diff Tierra Roja wines.... This was decanted for 2 hours by me beforehand, then back into the bottle. It turned out it needed much more air than that! Dark purple in the glass. I think I got the last 3 bottles of this last month from FM. After all the positive notes I had to try. I opened this on Saturday before a black tie event, but ultimately never got around to drink it - so it decanted for 5 hours. I could tell it was a bit boozy, disjointed from a quick pour. Decanted 2 hours prior to the HMCs coming over for dinner.... Never had one of any maker, from this vineyard before. It is rich, thick, creamy, luscious, smooth, cassis with cinnamon and mulberry on the nose and palate. It is weighty in the mouth and worth every penny....until about 5-6 hours of air where as with all young cabs it turns black and bitter. Majestically good, reminds me a lot of Dalla Valle Maya. Dark fruit, powerful dense opulence on the nose. Dark chocolate, rocky minerals, and black fruit on the palate. It takes about a 4 hour decant for it to show those characteristics i mentioned above. 4 Hour decant required or drink later in 2026.
