Col d'Orcia, Sant'Antimo, Nearco Rosso

Exploring Sangiovese with Mr Genchev; 5/14/2022-5/15/2022 (Varna) : 50 % Merlot, 30% Cabernet, 15% Syrah, 5% Petit Verdot. Coffee dark berries, oily and well-rounded and balanced. Lean with medium weight and intensity, Tannins melted with air, but drinkable almost straight after decanting. Overall, restrained, but tasty and easy to drink. Fair price as well.

Deep, dark red in color. Good clarity but you'll need light to see it. With some coaxing, notes of red fruit on the muted nose. Mouth-drying tannins and, at least at this point, obvious petit verdot characteristics. Fairly austere, at least on a pop and pour. Not my style.

Montalcino Trip-Day 1 (Ciacci Piccolomini&Col d'Orcia) (Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy) : Nose: The nose has a dark, yet savory side with black cherries, balsamico tones, red berries, spice notes, and some vanilla. Taste: Full bodied with medium+ tannins and medium acidity. The tannins are a little bit coarse and woody with black cherries, red berries, spice tones, vanilla, and toasty notes. Aged for too long, would have been great a few years back. Nice fruit, musty, little tannin. Everyone appreciated it none the less.

Dark purple color, medium bodied. Scent of eart and leather. Notes of prunes, raisins and some rust.

Outstanding wine. A great tuscan bouquet, with a long lasting spicy cherry. This is becoming my favorite. Nicely developed wine that pays respect to its origin.

Great Tuscan wine with some bouqet and aromas of flowers, cherry and mushrooms. Very round and soft, velvety ending.

Not as wonderful as I remember. Dark; lots of sediment; dark fruit; bit too earthy. Maybe it will be better on the 2nd day.

Very dark, quite a bit of sediment. Full bodied and smooth. Chocolate and licqourice. Ok with entrecote, but better on its own after dinner.

A very interesting and engaging wine from a supposedly poor vintage. It would be interesting to see how this differes from a bottle from a supposedly better vintage. Dark and brooding, with just a hint of cedar wood on the palate.

Super-Tuscan Bordeaux blend of 50% Merlot, 30% Cab, 20% Syrah. Tasted at Palm Bay Winemaker's Tour 2010 @ NY Public Library @ Bryant Park and was among my favorites. Aromatic and complex bouquet of red & black fruits, spices, vanilla, oak.

Colour -Medium purple, some gradation. Upon openning: Nose - Blackcurrent, tannin. Palette - Medium body. Black current. Some tannin. Not harsh, but still quite there. Fruit fades in the mouth, leading to a bitter finish (tannin). 15 to 20 second finish. After only 5 or 10 minutes in bottle - Tannins faded somewhat. So on openning, a 91. After 5 minutes in glass - even less tannin (not much at all). Body has become much fuller; glycerin taste. Fruit is …
