Chateau de Lamarque, Haut-Medoc

Muted nose, nondescript palate. Disjointed. It’s ok (. . . not good, not really bad . . . just ok). I don’t remember why I bought this - likely some wine reviewer said it was great (it’s definitely not) - and likely I figured for $20 bucks or so I might as well give it a shot; that was a poor decision on my part.

Day 1: The 2019 had a plastic taste and this does as well. Why you don’t trust main stream wine critics. Very light wine with plastic, spice, light fruit and damp earth. A joke that WE gave this 93 points. 75 points Day 2: Maybe a touch better on day 2 but the finish on this wine is so below average and thin. Less plastic taste and very light wine with raspberries, mild spice and damp earth. Short finish. 77 …

Dried flowers, red fruits, tobacco, cedar and a hint of truffle create the nose. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, fresh, lifted and a touch salty, with a round-textured, fruity, earthy, black cherry finish. Drink from 2024-2040.

(45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot, 13.5% Alkohol) Intensive, dunkelfruchtige Nase, dazu kommen Würze, Tee und viele Kräuter, schöner Duft. Im Gaumen dicht, mit Schmelz, dabei nicht breit, der Wein ist zugänglich, zeigt Finesse und viel Balance, feinkörnige Gerbstoffe und im Abgang eine gute Länge. Excellent wine. Color ruby red. Elegant and fruity character with red berries on the nose. Lot of minerals on the palate. Pleasant long finish with good tannins.

Im Gaumen weich, fast etwas mollig, doch überhaupt nicht breit, das hat viel Finesse, zeigt ein gut integriertes Holz und eine sehr schöne Balance, die Gerbstoffe sind reif, wohl dosiert, die Säure passt. Black raspberries, blackberries, espresso, cocoa, cedar, tobacco and herbs open the nose. On the palate, the wine is juicy, fresh, vibrant and fruit-filled, leaving with you loads of sweet, crisp, energetic currants and herbs with staying power. 89-90

Rich black fruits, juicy and smooth. Quite decent and drinking harmoniously.

Intense Bordeaux, medium tannic, very good. Breather 2.5 hours upon tasting. Total wine $24.99 10/2019.

No 25, medium garnet. Medium+ violet and woody. Medium+ acidity, medium+ body, medium alcohol, medium firm tannin. Violet and juniper.

Forward, upfront and almost crowd pleasing in style, with its dark red fruit, cedar and tobacco character. Give this easy drinking wine a few years to develop more complexity.
