Domaine Darviot-Perrin Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Blanchots Dessus

Exploring new domaines in Burgundy with Jasper Morris MW (67 Pall Mall) : From a vineyard adjacent to Montrachet. This wine, although a 2017, was only bottled in September 2020 as a result of a family issue. Evident class from the first sniff: really aromatic, well-judged, classic white 1er cru Burg nose, with excellent balance between reductive gunflint and oak. Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Tasting #1 (Northside / Montrachet-adjacent) (House of Nanda - Chicago IL) : Another Darviot-Perrin that was massively reduced to start, and still reductive several hours later. Others seemed to enjoy this wine, but i was unable to find any enjoyment from the glass tonight. In contrast, the 2014 was very easy to enjoy.

Chassange - Northside : Significant reduction that renders a stink on the nose and compacts the palate. Blew off by day #2 and this showed nicely. Needs a long decant, which has been the case with other 2017s from Darviot-Perrin.
