Royal Tokaji, Oddity Furmint, Tokaj

Nose: Lime, pear, candied green apple, diesel, pastis. Palate: Cotton candy, menthol, lime juice, lime oils, minerals, salt. Medium+ oily body, high acidity. It feels very lean, but I almost taste a touch of sugar, with the acidity covering it all up. Interesting and a steal for $10.

Rich and big, distinct methyl furanthiol note on the nose. Still same style, regal indeed and great value.

I’m ambivalent on this one - the acidity comes across low and I find it drinks hot for 13% but on the plus side it’s mineraly - perhaps too much with a mouthful of gravel and granite. Straw color, very dry and full bodied

Appropriately named as it is an unusual wine, but one I quite liked. Popped and poured at cooler than cellar temp. Pale gold color, nose of lemons, granite and a salty, savory note. Lots of minerals on the attack, with lemon oil and a forest floor mushrooms note on the palate, but in a good way, if that makes any sense. The lightness and minerality of a good white and some of the complexity and umami of a red.

Lives up to its name of “oddity” - a dry white wine with unexpected earthy mushroom notes alongside the more typical stonefruit. Great with food.

Tasted blind, it seemed like a Gruner, or a cool weather Vermentino. Floral and citrusy on the nose. Medium + acid and decent mouthfeel. Decent balance on the finish.

Pale straw Nose - melon and citrus, honey. Mineral Palate - med body. Light and lively. Nice balance. Hunky of barrel aging. Similar to Fume Blanc.
