Domaine Verdant Pinot Noir Vigneron’s Selection No.8

Decanted for one hour after advice from the producer. Nose masked and dominated by the oak making it hard to appreciate the fruit and tertiary notes. Very soft tannins. Taste dominated by the oak again and a very flat mid palate lacking fruit. A nice and somewhat simple wine that does not justify the price at about 35€. There are many greater Pinot Noirs out there at this price level.

Yummi, this is good stuff! Wonderful nose with fruit, vanilla and tertiary notes of autumn in the hills. On the palate, juicy deep taste from bright red berries, fine acidity, some oak and again a touch of vanilla and spices. And still very fresh although it is pushing 10 years.
