This wine evolved nicely after a two hour decant. Came out of the bottle with a still medium purple-red, no bricking at the rim. At first opening and sip, I would’ve rated this 88ish. Nose was vegetal and the palate wasn’t giving anything. Huge transition as it sat in the decanter. Still has a little bit of that vegetal elements to it but it’s faded into the background and is nicely blended with ripe raspberry, cassis, charcoal, and cedar. Tannins …

This one has years left I'm sure, drinking lovely now, soft and tasty as hell, really really good - Dark, barely noticeable signs of aging at the rim, notes of black fruit, plum, cedar, vanilla toast on the nose, silky smooth on the palate with terrific length, stilll see another 5 years or so before it begins it's death spiral, so enjoy! (92 points) (PS; Just saw Jim Laube's WS review from 2013, 83 points my ass, what a hack).

Could definitely tell the bottle was getting older, but there are still a few years left. The wine craves a fatty meat and we had it with some Waygu. Dark fruit notes on the nose. A well balanced wine.

Best bottle (Weindorf Kirchheim, Waldhorn Laube) : Glass: Sophienwald Bordeaux Popped and poured. Well made, but boring. Smooth, round, some nice fruit, boring, fine oak, uncomplicated, medium length. And did i mention: boring? 89-90

Disappointing. Likely past maturity Short on the palate. A bit flat and more acidic than expected.

Somewhat better than I remember from this winery. Maybe they upped their game from earlier in this century.

One of my "forgotten bottles", in my cellar for several years. Coravin'd over 2 nights Dark ruby color. Nose showing dark fruits and faint licorice. Palate of red berries, plums, spice/cloves. Fined tannins, smooth texture. Medium weight and finish. This has aged nicely. Tannins are resolved, wine is elegant and smooth. Artemis lacks the depth (and of course the price!) of the higher end SLWC offerings (Csk 23, SLV or Fay) so expectations should be that it won't have the …

This opened up beautifully after two hours of air. The bouquet was driven by earthy, rosemary, licorice, and capsicum aromas that weaved through plump, black cherry fruit. The palate conveyed vinous elegance, impeccable balance, and Old School backbone and complexity softened by classic Napa restraint. This is still evolving and look forward to revisiting in a few years. 93+

This was the 12th and last bottle from my original case that I’ve been cellaring. I only wish I bough 2 cases. Poured to a nice ruby red almost inky color on rim of glass. Aromas still as alive as ever. Red fruit with cherry leading the way. Flavors of tart cherry still going strong. If stored properly this could have sat for another few years. This case lived up to the Stags Leap name. I’ll be ordering another case …

A Cab that should more than please both those who shy away from fruit driven Cab/Merlot/Bordeaux choices, and those who embrace them. The ‘10 here is hitting on all cylinders right now, and drinking as good as I’ve ever tasted it. I’d venture to say that this is in its ‘drink now’ state, as more cellaring time is more seams like it may hurt, rather than help it. For my tastes/preferences, the Staggs Leap District produces some of Napa’s most …

Rather disappointing showing. It has clearly lost most of its fruit, with only minuscule tannins and alcohol heat left. Don’t know how much is attributable to bottle variation, but it might be advisable to drink up pretty soon.

My 10th bottle of the case. Still pouring nicely, but I think they may be going downhill from here. The overall wowness wasn’t there but the bottle still held on for a good pour. Slightly tinged red on rim of glass. Some fruit still shown through. A bit tart on the flavor. I decantered for 1 hour, but that was prob too long. Next bottle will be much less. Still a great wine, a bit pricey but I love it.

Stewed plums. Spice cake. The wine from first communion. Incense from Christmas mass. Hints of green pepper and vegetal notes. Tonight we opened two bottles of this wine at the same time, and the occasion began with simply a pleasant dinner of steaks with mushrooms and a cheese course. It turned out to be the night we found out about a birth announcement in the family, and this wine was up to celebrating the moment.

This certainly wasn’t a bad wine, just nowhere near what I hoped it would be. Opened and let breathe in bottle for almost an hour. Had a taste after sitting for an hour and while good was rather one noted. Decided to decant through a vinturi. This helped a bit but unfortunately this didn’t make the wine blossom as I’d hoped. It was fine. Initially austere, blossoming into a passable wine, but no nuance and no finish at all. If …

Drank this wine at Dragon Phoenix Restaurant last night during a wine tasting session with my wine mates. Theme of the evening: Wines from America. Deep purple in colour with a thick, voluptuous body. Strong notes of plums and blackberries with cedar, oak, coffee and a touch of leather. Wine is still young with the potential to age further.

Drank with 2010 Silverado Vineyards Cab. This bottle was more complex with cedar, leather and savory notes accompanying the Napa fruit. Good acidity. Don't expect plush velvet. Nice steak wine. Not something I can drink a whole bottle of but a glass with a weekend meal type of wine.

Wine was good not great. I drank in late 2015 (12/27/25) and the bottle was properly kept for at least 2 years. The wine was good but not great. It still had an acidic bite that I would have hoped would be mellowed by now. The wine looks ruby colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle.

Concentrated fruit bouquet, somewhat unusual for a CS. Medium to full in the mouth, without great complexity but very balanced and smooth. Stood up very well to a week in the wine cooler, perhaps gaining a bit in concentration but not changing all that much. Very pleasant to drink with an attractive finish. Recommended. I plan to get more.
