PNP. Deep dark magenta color. Cinnamon-infused black cherry pie filling, graphite, sage, cacao, and subtle fennel. Smooth and very dry palate, with cottony, tongue coating acidity. Firm, medium intensity tannins on the medium long+ finish. This really needs an hour or two decant, but I was on the road visiting my brother on the tail end of a work trip. He and his wife dont drink wine (gasp) or anything else, so I had to make do.

Nose is a bit more muted than last; no roofing shingle tonight (fortunately). 75 mins after opening, not decanted, this is still too young, Drinkableyes, even enjoyable, but this will so obviously benefit from another 3-5 years its tough to enjoy to its fullest. 91+ today, potential for 93

40-minute double decant. Very deep, dark, intense magenta color. Blackberry, blueberry, cream soda, minerality, and subtle milk chocolate. Smooth, dry, slightly creamy palate, with dusty acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish. I enjoyed this a bit more than the bottle I had a few months ago. Its in the same league with Double Diamond and the like. Definitely built for early drinking, but may get a bit better for another year or two.

Juicy blackberry notes, complemented by vanilla and baking spices. Tannins are medium-plus and dry the mouth. Not very complex, but overall a good tasting cab.

One hour decant is mandatory. Medium plus garnet plum purple color. Nose is cassis dark fruit graphite, old leather, minty earth, and dusty spice. Palate has dark fruit, blackberry, dusty earth, Blackberries, cassis, leather, black cherry, black plum, and tobacco. (With 2 hours of decant chocolate with cedar appears) Tongue drying feel and solid structured tannins. Finish is long and interesting.

Cassis, crack of black pepper, black currant, blackberry, plums, black cherry. An explosion of fruit supported by decent acidity. Extracted, mount coating tannins that are also elegant and refined, polished by a noticeable amount of creamy new oak. Finishes with a satisfying cassis note. This is quite a big wine but it works!

Restaurant pnp, 45 mins in the glass. Roofing shingle on the nose w dark cherry and blackberry. While a bit tight right from the bottle this quickly opens up. Nice balance of dark fruit, coffee and structure w fine-grained tannins that quickly integrate w air. Solid near-term wine.

It's good but isn't worth the price. Maybe better in 3-5 years.

45-minute decant. Deep dark magenta color. Boysenberry, plum, milk chocolate, and lychee. Smooth, dry palate. Firm tannins on the longish finish. This was as good as Id hoped and could still improve a bit in the coming year. Excellent QPR if you can find it for $70 on the secondary market.

Cassis! Opened fairly quickly in the glass and in the first hour. Round and easy drinking. Med body and did I mention cassis! Drink in first 5-7 years

Needs at least an hour to breathe. Spices are really apparent with some blackberry and other dark fruits. It’s probably too early to drink right now. Very strong tannins that mellow but definitely a well made vintage.

2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Event (Minneapolis, MN) : This was ok but Pahlmeyer is a name I would not drink again for the money they charge. Big wine with blackberries, jam, spice, oak, vanilla and floral notes. Not really balanced but drinkable. Bottom half of the tasting. I see all the high scores on this wine can't put any words to their notes. Not surprised by that.

Juicy up front, but balanced with the right amount of tannin. Nice finish too. Enjoyed with our meal and shared with friends. This with was near perfect, being silky smooth and complex. It is a well made wine, and would buy again.

Very much agree with MDB1982's tasting note. I think a relevant addition to that note is to decant long enough. I decanted for 2 hours and it should have been 4 hours as the last half of the bottle was really singing and on point for balance of fruit and acidity and tannins with a long finish. JSHAUGHN's note I can see being true if you drink too early after decanting, although I didn't find it too oak dominant early …

Wine has strong oak presence of vanilla, anise and baking spices. Black fruit qualities and really pleasurable tannins and acid. However the oak is just too dominate for the lack of fruit concentration and throws the wine slightly out of balance. Overall a very good wine but there are a lot of Napa producers I would rather drink for this pricepoint.

Jayson Cabernet Sauvignon reveals its classic expression with deep, elegant black fruit aromas, and hints of plum, licorice, vanilla, fresh cream and the suggestion of forest floor. A juicy entry leads into a dense mid-palate; mocha, dusty chalk, and attractive herbal hints round out the rich flavors. Fine tannins support the fruit character for a complex, balanced wine that pairs well with food.

Cleaning up some things in the boss' cellar and forgot this one was here! Thought this one was over the hill as usually these are VERY approachable right at release. Really impressed with the structure of this at almost 10 years old. At release these seem to have lush fruit. This one had a wealth of chewy fruit, but it was half blackberry, half brambleberry, hint of vanilla and clove. Good acidity. Soft all around with integrated oak. Black pepper …

PnP. Needs some time to breathe. Very good, strong tannins that will mellow. I’ll save the other bottles a few more years

Declassified Pahlmeyer. 95% cab, 4% merlot, 1% Petit Verdot. Some green pepper at first, then dark fruit. Palate not overly extracted. Harmonious - - gets it done.

More of the same from the first tasting, black fruit driven, tea, cinnamon, great silky texture and balance. Very good, but pricey.

Black fruit driven, tar, cooking spices, noticeable Napa style oak integration. Quite good, could use a few years.
