Boudreaux Cellars, Merlot, Washington

Great wine, still a lot of dark fruit apparent on the nose. Structure starting to fade, so definitely at its peak now or slightly past. This wine has held up nicely. 2003 Merlot vintage was definitely quality.

Drinking this wine outside its drinking window, I was pleasantly surprised with how well it was drinking. Smooth on the front, with a nice lingering finish and little to no edginess. Hints of cherries and chocolate. Went well with (and not overpowered by ) the smoked BBQ pork ribs and tritip.

Popped and let it breathe for an hour before drinking. Nose of sweet italian plums and an undertone sage leaf. Great mouth feel. Balanced acidity. More plum flavors on the palate. Decent finish. Would purchase again.

Originally popped and poured. Wine was very harsh and alcoholic on the nose. Poured the rest of the bottle into a decanter. After an hour, the wine really mellowed out. Nose of pie cherries and vanilla. Great mouthfeel as always. Cherry and plum on the palate with a very spicy finish. Well structured, but not overbearing tannins. Would purchase again.

Double decanted and let sit on the table while I made dinner. Still pretty tight when I finally got around to pouring a glass. It took about 45 minutes to open up in the glass. I enjoyed this wine with a NY Steak tonight and have nothing bad to say about it. My expectations were lowered by some previous reviews and so were pleasantly exceeded tonight. Thin, tannic and nothing special. Disappointed in this I was expecting so much more, and got so much less. I'll write Boudreaux off my list.

Very complex but smooth wine. Lots of dark fruit on the nose. Hard to pick out one aroma. A little bit of cherry, some blackberry and cocoa powder. On the palate there was a hint of herbaceousness. Still had some nice tannic structure. The finish was silky and lasted a good long while. Would purchase again.

A bit tannic right out of the bottle, needed about an hour to open up. Nose of vanilla bean and lots of sweet bright cherry on the palate. Could use some more time to settle the tannins down. Would purchase again.

Compared to the 2004, it is thin and has a mild wet dog aroma after 24 hours. I am going to lay my other bottle of this down for awhile and hope for the best...

Tasted a little thin but yet it still had that Washington taste. It was a bit early to open, but it was nice. I'll hold off on my next bottle a year.

Has a long life ahead. Decanted. Not a lot of sediment. Dark purple. Notes of sweet fruit from a distance, the closer your nose got to the wine the tighter the wine got. Hints of dark bitter chocolate. Lots of dark fruit flavors and very grippy tannins. Would like to let this sit for a few years to see how the tannins resolve.
