This was a pleasant if unremarkable 87ish Cabernet when initially opened but after a half hour it was a cooking wine.

Delicious fruit forward Cab w/expressive nose. Tart & mouth drying wine. Drinking well now w/years to go if you wish.

Three hour slow ox. Deep, bright magenta color. Sour cherry, caramel and mustard seed on the tart nose. Smooth, dry, somewhat tart palate. Tongue drying acidity. Soft tannins on the medium+ finish.

This was the last bottle, and showed considerable improvement over previous tastings. It was full-bodied and smooth with a pleasant cherry flavor and a bit of smoke at the end. Still some tannins at the finish

Very enjoyable. Nose of cedar, blackfruits and toast. The palate is midweight with balanced acidity and nicely integrated tannins.

Nose of cedar, and cigar box, with some notes of vanilla and coffee. Lucious and smooth mouth feel. Medium body, with well integrated tannins now. Ready to drink and a very good example of a Carneros Cabernet. Served with Steak au Poivre, rosti potatoes and roasted root vegis. Most enjoyable.

2008 vintage

4th Saturday Group brown bagger (Rick's & Cris') : Notes of herbs, black fruit and cassis. The cassis and dark fruit qualities follow through on the palate. This is quite firm and structured and in need of some time to soften. Guessed Napa Cab. I was surprised when this was unveiled, as I've never known Truchard's Cabernets to show this much structure and dark fruit. I've thought of then as a bit more open and red-fruited. Green on the nose, eventually the red and black fruit emerges. Good structure, could maybe use another year or two to smooth out.

A bit dated. I would strongly recommend a "drink now" on this one. There was virtually no tannin bite left in this one.

This is a great vineyard to visit and their wines continue to improve. This has lots of dark fruit, smooth finish, and just enjoyable.

Popped and poured making dinner. A lighter style of Cab with balanced tannins.

Drank over the course of two nights. Inky purple. Nice bouquet of blackberry, licorice, cedar, black cherry, mocha, plum, currants, leather, and the undeniable aroma that tells you the wine is young. In the mouth the wine was abundantly dry with firm tannins, so I hammered the cork back into the bottle and opened the next day. Nice transformation; now it was suddenly fresh, fleshy, and juicy. Initial taste was quite thin. After decant became more full bodied but was heavy and ponderous w rough tannic finish. Flavor improved over the next day but still rough finish

Gibby's California Tasting (Gibby's Wine Den, Geneva, IL) : Inky purple color, opaque. Aromas of perfumed red fruit, black cherry, coffee and herbs. Medium- to full-bodied, with flavors of blackberry, currants, violets and black cherry. Fine-grained, approachable tannins. $33.95.

Didn't mind all the tannins, but the palate seemed a bit watery and thin compared to the alluring nose. Perfectly drinkable, even enjoyable, wine, but I doubt I'll look for more as I believe there are more interesting 2007s, even for the moderate price--

Good cab that is not overpowering and very food friendly. This is a bit of a unique characteristic for a Napa cab. Well balanced and structered with a long finish. Notes of cassis, blackberry, and a hint of cedar.

Popped and poured. Seemed more austere than in previous tastings. Nice nose, lean body, and healthy tannins. After allowing it to breath, the black cherry, cedar, cinnamon, and plum flavors came through. Ample, dusty tannins provide a long finish.

Very fruity, almost similar to a Australian Shiraz. A different style of cab but pleasant. Very good but not great.

Lacked - well anything defining. This would be really good $12 cabernet. At $30-40, it should deliver more tannins and flavor.

Deep garnet red. Big spice, red berry, toasted oak and cedar scent. Full body, rich, currant and cocoa taste with ample tannins and a long finish.

With 21 day dry aged porterhouse. Violets, purple in color and in flavor..terrific finish of acid and tannins, grip in the mouthfeel. Not particularly elegant, but bold and forward. LC 4.0-. Great QPR at $20. A little left next day.. had with lunch.. still going strong. I think the alcohol is higher than the label says, though...again a bit of a buzz...like yesterday.

Maybe a touch lighter than a cab should be in body. Very elegant, great fruits, smooth tannins. May age and improve over the next two years, but I don't envision this as a "built to last" cabernet. Very good though.

Outstanding cab. The nose is quite aromatic. We could smell the bouquet from across the kitchen. Mouthfeel was stellar. Wonderful cassis, smoke, cherry, and chocolate came though. Will purchase again.
