On my shortlist for white wine of the year. So rich and deep, with outstanding detail and cut. Some smoky reduction gives way to allow the pure white peach fruit to shine. It has notes of spearmint and chalk too. It is creamy, rich and unctuous through the mid-palate and such awesome power without excessive weight. The finish powers on and on.

Wow. Now this has the power and weight of a Chevalier Montrachet. The most fruit forward of the bunch but supported by that d’Auvenay linearity. A massive and structured wine impressive richness and a hint hazelnut deliciousness. What a treat.

Holiday Burgundy Lunch - Rousseau, Leroy, DRC, Ramonet, d'Auvenay (Scottsdale, Arizona USA) : Served blind. Dense and sweet, guessed maybe '99 Leflaive. The reveal was somewhat disappointing, this was a good wine but didn't blow me away as most d'Auvenay white wines do.

Booming nose right off the pop, huge reduction, white flowers and white rubber. Subtle smoke but mostly incredible reduction and sulphur in the best possible way. This renders the '06 Coche Corton-Charlemagne in the next glass quiet. Absolutely massive projection out of the glass. The fruit, both on the nose and the palate, is bright and youthful tropical. The palate has a tightly wound grapefruit quality. This is a very impressive and absolutely delicious wine. Have never had a Folatières …

Burgundy Dinner with Gokhan and Friends (Nell's - Seattle WA) : Floral and spice start with ripe orchard fruit aromas. Charming flavors are similar, but slightly compact, not quite as exciting as the nose. 96 point nose, 92 point palate.

Kingyan slow oxed the wine for 3 hours. Crazily good. The nose had toasted nuts, popcorn, tropical fruit and caramel. The palate kept changing and it released more power as the night went by. It's so intense, juicy and nutty which I liked very much. Long life ahead with at least 10 years. Thanks to my bro Kingyan for this amazing white burgundy!

Drank together with d'Auvenay Meursault Goutte d'Or 2000. The Les Folatieries won unanimously. It demonstrated a true white Burgundy pinnacle with her complexity, elegance, balance and endless finish. Even with the crazily inflated prices of this domaine, those wines from PM were still in her own league. This is a US-sourced bottle and needs over 8 hours of bottle breath.

Light yellow in color, initially nose filled with flint and popcorn nose, gone in an hour and later transformed into white flower notes with honey. Austere for the 1st 3 hours then it gradually settled into layers of flavors with very long mineral finish, quite restraint for an Auvenay white, more elegant than her Meursault offerings. Will need a few more years to resolve the materials.
