Quite a nice drop coming from Yarra Valley, a region more known for Pinots and Chardonnay. Deep ruby red in the glass. Nose is complex, but still based predominately on primary notes of blackberries, cherry, cranberry and capsicum. Medium-bodied with a brush of tannins and refreshing acidity. Long, slightly sweet finish (from the oak and fruit combo). Good effort.

Tasted at Dominique Portet. Was told that the family used to work in Château Lafite-Rothschild. as vineyard & winery manager. Tasting note referenced from Dominique Portet website: Bright, pure fruited Cabernet Sauvignon that’s tightly knit yet with generosity and concentration with a red fruit spectrum - think raspberries, cherries, plums… with some darker brooding, brambly structure coming through on the palate. Balancing the fruit, are mineral notes like graphite/pencil shavings, refreshing acidity and tannins that are long and silky. The …
