Pavillon de Taillefer, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

Absolute gold in a bottle. What a great pour with fresh and tart fruit - blackberry, red cherry and a heavy handed spice that complements with fruit - black pepper, clove, dark mocha, anise. Also some floral notes that ebb and flow throughout, violets, pencils shaving. Lovely crisp, fine but still present med tannins. Fine acidity and lovely elegant finish. This was pure pleasure and will get better with 5-10yrs easy. 4+ hrs decant and better day 2.

A private tasting (Aventura Wines, Amsterdam, NL) : Magnum. Biodynamic viticulture, 100% Merlot from Vignonet, Saint-Sulpice de Faleyrans and Saint-Emilion. Pure and energetic, excellent terroir expression, showing very well already and with a good future.

Dry, intense with mineral character, vertical and quite strict. Carries through, well balanced, real class here.

Delicious!

I feel like this is very underrated stuff. Much more full bodied and ripe than I was expecting. Deep dark plums, cassis, lead and earth. Structured with approachable soft tannins that almost disappear on night two (though structure remained). Likely best to drink in the next 5 years.
