medium amber colour. pronounced developing aromas and flavours of honey, orange marmalade, apricot, drying yellow nectarine, honeysuckle, tangerine zest and hints of saffron and ginger. sweet, with silky plus body, and balancing plus acidity that wraps the seamless fruit flavours and lightens the honey and sweetness. finishes long. at ten years from harvest, it is showing wonderfully with succulence and balance. 11% AbV; 110g/L RS; 7g/L acidity; blend of 60% Welschriesling/ 40% Chardonnay; 20% of the wine ferments and matures …

Very nice BA with clear botrytis. Not super complex compared with Kracher’s TBAs, but really good quality for the low price

Impressive complexity here with evident botrytis character, pineapple and stone fruits. There is a lovely sense of extract and a welcome bitterness on the palate. Unfortunately it lacks the acidity of a truly great and ageworthy beerenauslese. 90-91

Deep amber in the glass. Big fruit richness complemented by apricot jam, white flowers, dried fruit character. A bit simple for a beerenauslese, could also use more acid. Medium finish. Not the best edition from Kracher, but interesting to try this from a magnum.

Excellent vintage for this entry-level dessert wine of Kracher. Honey, resin, very fine acidity, never cloying. Fine now, will age well. - 91 points

Candied tropical fruits (pineapples, mangoes), tree fruits (apples, pears), dried herbs/grass, orange marmalade and honeysuckle - evidence of botrytis for sure. Medium finish. Not bad.

Kracher is one of the greatest estates making dessert wines. Part of the success is being located near a huge lake on the border of Austria with Hungary that reliably provides the high humidity needed for the botrytis that shrinks and concentrates the grape flavors. Another major factor is the Kracher fanatically focuses almost exclusively on dessert wines. Finally, its expertise in making and marketing dessert wines is so commanding that many grape growers sell their grapes to Kracher rather …

Kracher's modest(?) Beerenauslese, not trying to be exceptional, and that was maybe the key to the success of this wine. The very pure acidity matched perfectly with the not heavy sweetness; maybe not yet completely balanced but already a sheer delight to sip this wine with the unbaked apple pie from Jef (Texel); a very good choice made by Nadine.

Deep golden, nearing brown. Rich nose of coconut and caramel, no botrytis. Medium-bodied and thick in a lovely way even if low in acidity; faint bitterness at the end and fine purity. Lovely wine for a vintage that is clearly not for the long haul.

This was excellent!!! One of the best dessert wines. I think this is usually very expensive. We drank w mom at end of 2016 trip. It was a gift from her. Excellent acidity, complexity and finish.

So good. Very rich, luscious and sweet but so satisfying and not cloying or sickly in the slightest. Very complex finish, which is a little herbal, complementing beautifully the honey and botrytis which dominates the majority of the wine. Acidity could be higher for my personal tastes, but it is still a balanced wine. Not at all bitter, hot or short on the finish. Incredible offer of 11 euros a bottle.

Delicious. Medium amber color. Wonderful length and balance--sweet without being heavy or cloying. From 375 ml. Drink now as fruit starting to fade a bit, but my experience with these is limited.

Ja, das ist ein verlässliches Süssweinding. Aber nicht mehr... Botrytisnase, etwas Karamell, einigermassen gute Säure. Ja, im Restaurant zum Käse bin ich froh, so etwas glasweise zu finden - never ever in my celler!

Vienna airport - €20 for half a bottle, this is a nice entry to the sweet wines world. Botrytis nose plus that lovely 'rocket salad jam' flavours, certain acidity , it is the sweetness that is coming a touch more heavier to slightly offset the balance. Drank over 3 days, stayed solid throughout.

Tasted this at "Wine Country Austrian- Wine Tasting" Masterclass at Prowine Asia 2016. Good balance between acidity and freshness. Ripe fruits including figs and candy, mango and marshmallows were evident. Clean finish. Simply heavenly.

Unsurprisingly a step up compared to the Auslesen tasted before. More of a honeyed, dried fruit character on the nose. Exotic fruit, with more richness. Still good freshness and lift, slightly spicy, very good length. 90-91+

Comparable to a decent Sauternes. Showing some complexity and age, a bit light on the acidity, but nevertheless not cloying.

Opened and consumed within half an hour. Deep golden colour and a really wonderful nose, at first intensely honeyed, then caramelised apricots. Perfect rich and thick taste, with a licorice element, good balance between sweetness and acidity. Extremely good, unfortunately my last bottle.

At Thanksgiving with Jordan's home made pumpkin pie and pecan pie. The wine was a lovely treat. Lots of great flavors going on, the sweetness not overpowering. A week later, I had the final glass and it was just as good. Brilliant winemaker, I lament his passing. Very pleased I have some of his older wines in the cellar

Lesser-Known Rhone Appl. : the Homage to Alois was trully a wonderfull moment and one i am gratefull to Jay for sharing with us all. the BA is a wine on the lower end of the Kracher lineup and is always a wonderfull QPR as it is lighter and easier to drink than his TBA's that need time. flowery and light, peaches playing the second fiddle, lovely acid keeping this fresh. excellent as always.

Strong nose of apricot and botrytis with a bit of pineapple. Same on the palate with citrus and acidity to balance out the sugar so it was not cloying at all. The true test of a desert wine is my wife, who does not like sweet wines unless they are in perfect balance. She liked this wine.

Austria (Wine Exchange in Orange, CA) : I can hardly sense any botrytis here, but there is a sweatiness that mars the otherwise lovely caramel apple and petrol aromatics. The sweetness is held in check (and in proper balance) until the finish, which is ever so slightly sugary.

Pears, peaches, honey and marmalade on the nose. Rich mouthfeel with nice texture and length. The acid is good enough to keep the sweetness delicious rather than cloying. Drink over the next 5 years.

I guess I'm in the minority on this one as I really like this wine and it exceeded my expectations. A lovely medium gold color. The nose is absolutely beautiful with ripe apricots, honey, pineapple, cream, and botrytis. The palate is sweet, full, and round with just enough acidity to keep it from being cloying. Long, rich creamy finish. 50 + 5 + 13 + 17 + 8

Bright gold, fresh nose. Of course really primary, but great acidity and balance. It doesn't have the concentration and complexity of a TBA, but is elegant and should be nice with the right food. Medium long finish. Very good. Drink or hold.

Quite sweet and sticky, of course, with lots of ripe apricot and pineapply notes. A very granular and sugared feel to the palate that isn't really integrated, and a burnt caramel heaviness. Lacks the acidity, vibrancy, and finesse of the best botrytis-affected wines. Not a real candidate for long-term aging, but enjoyable enough with caramel bread pudding and cinnamon ice cream.

i was pretty well toast by the time we opened this 375 ml bottle, but without being specific, this wine was delightful. great acidity and a lack of cloying + unctuous fruit, dominated by an explosive mango and apricot blend which was so tantalizing. even this non numbered blend makes me say, "you can never have enough kracher in your cellar."

This is 50% Chardonnay and 50% Welschrielsing. In the past, I believe Kracher would put this out as an Auslese but due to the excellent ripeness of the grapes in 2003, bottled this as a BA. It was dessert sweetness but had bitter fruit notes and not enough acidity to give it balance. I thought it was a bit awkward. 85 points.
