It’s 2024 and was skeptical of this 2001. But had to try it anyway - don’t! It’s well past it’s time. Sorry!

Classic California cab from a very good year. Had with grilled ribeyes. Lots of black fruit and dark cherry flavors balanced with tobacco, chocolate. Long finish, holding up well though probably past its prime.

Drunk from magnum. Still drinking well, better after 2 hour decant.

Stunning Duxkhorn cab. Great balance, elegance and complexity. Long long finish. Still plenty of fresh fruit with spice and forest canopy notes.

This is still delivering some great flavor. Excellent nose. Silky tannin. Very mature fruit. I would it is at the end of its peak drinking window but again, really delivered. Yum.

Still has plenty of life. Tannins are a bit grippy. Aromas of baked plum, anise, and charcoal. In the mouth the wine has rich dark fruits balanced with savory notes. Delicious with steak salad.

Elegant, warm. Subtle but complex nose. Huge flavors but very round. Long beautiful finish.

Man oh man I've been waiting to open this for so many years. Today, Feb 10, 2013 is the right day. Upon pouring, the 01 estate grown merlot shows just a hint of age, burgundy color I would say. On the nose I get dusty cherry, earth, and something tertiary I can't describe. This has finally crossed into the land of complexity and maturity. It won't get any better than this and will not improve. Drink by summer, 2014.

Pretty good. Suffered by comparison to 97 Pichon and 04 Axios. Worthy of NYE but not as good as I had expected.

Raspberry fudge brownie in a glass. Sweet red raspberries layered on a moist dark chocolate brownie like you would get at ournfavoritemlocal bakery. I almost want to drink a glass of cold milk with it. Yummy! Drank from magnum, bought on-site and stored in climate controlled cellar from birth...perfect cork:)

Nice older cab nose, with good fruit (black cherry, blackcurrant), licorice, and some cedar. Not as oaky as my previous bottle 4 yrs ago. This is, IMHO a bit disappointing, given the reputation of Duckhorn's estate bottlings and the vintage. Tried this against the 2001 Montelena Estate Cab, which fared much better.

Deep, black cherry red color. Dark chocolate covered cherry nose. Beautiful dark and bing cherries on the palate with a long finish that is, of course, spiced with dark chocolate. Deaf, dumb and blind this is a Napa floor Merlot - exactly as scripted. Yummmmmmeeee!

Seems a little past it's prime. Beautiful nose of black berries and ripe black cherries with a little flowery note. Perfectly balanced mouthfeel with a little leathery quality. Berries and black cherry with a little cola flavors. Medium finish. Was wonderful with a steak dinner which didn't include any strong spices. (nothing overpowered from either side)

Subtle beautiful nose with a hint of ripe red fruit. Medium bodied, very mellow and round. Perfectly aged or maybe just a bit over, but still drinking very nicely with a long finish.

Outstanding. Popped and poured. Seems to still be at it's peak. Smooth, long finish. Stayed consistent during throughout the 90 minutes that I drank it.

Drank for dinner at Roy's. Nice expressive dark fruit and oak on the nose. Mouthfeel was velvety with a very smooth lasting finish. Drinking perfect right now. Very nice.

Drank right out of the bottle without decanting at Cyrus. Deep purple with medium sediment. Excess alcohol blew off almost immediately and the result was a rich, well-balanced cab that is drinking extremely well right now.

Wonderful wine. Changed a lot over 4 hours; but, not necessarily better. It was all good. Not a wow wine. And for $85, I expect a bit more.

Overly expressing oak, with fruit in background. Empty. This is either not my style or it's shut down. I think (and hope) it's the latter.

This is one fantastic bottle of wine. I love Duck Horn Merlots and this was no exception. Decanted and consumed within the hour as we brought in the New Year. Such a deep dark color for a Merlot, a little tight on the nose, but fantastic in the mouth - this was a classic Napa Merlot at it's finest. I am so glad I saved the bottle for a very special occasion!

A classic California Cab nose, smooth and firm tannins, spicy black cherry mid palate and a long smooth finish. This wine is drinking perfectly now and for the next year or two.

This wine came around since my last bottle 2+ years ago. I remember it being overly tannic and green but now...it has tamed and the tannins have subsided but hasn't left it with alot of fruit. Good balance and nice mouthfeel but very short on the finish and mellow, fading fruit

Exactly what I like from an excellent California Cabernet. Good fruit on the nose, with a hint of vanilla and oak, refined tannins, long finish. 92+
