This is still purple to the rim and the nose is loads of bright cassis liquor, some mint, violets, dried dark berries, a hint of forest floor, just a whiff of vanilla, a touch of coffee, and some earthy white pepper. We opened it one day, pouring 1/2 the bottle and left it at room temp (ya, I know..abuse!), capped it, then finished the rest 2 days later. Honestly, it was MUCH more interesting two days later. This wine has …

Unmistakably Napa, yet relatively constrained. Still very youthful with little sign of bricking which surprised me given that it’s nearly 20 years old. A little sweet but not jammy, quite dense yet lacking in secondary flavours for me. Perhaps it’s a matter of preference as I drink mostly old world wine these days.

Finishing up the remnants of Friday’s bottle. Black fruit, tobacco and floral notes with just a touch of oxidation setting in. The palate shows ripe red fruit and iron flavors- better on the palate than the bouquet suggests it will be.

3rd Friday Group Tasting (EBCC) : Double blind. Aromas of tobacco, black fruit, perfume, herbs and iodine. Lovely and complex, a delight to have in the glass. Full-bodied with an abundance of red fruit along with black cherry and tobacco. Drinking beautifully right now. 93+ pts. (R&R)

Poured into a decanter directly before service and enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2012 Estate Cuvée pours a deep garnet color with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of mostly ripe, and some desiccated, red and black fruit: blackberry, black plum, crème de cassis, dried red and purple flowers, pipe tobacco, leather, varnish, a mix of organic and inorganic earth and some soft …

Consistent with the last bottle, but decanted for 2 hours -- still, the last sips were the best. This wine will drink well for another 15+ years and should continue to evolve well.

Day 1, brand new Coravin toy, used 2 jabs within an hour or so to draw off ~7oz for me to drink, 8oz to give away to a friend in a Boston jar, and 2 2oz samples into jars, leaving ~6oz in the bottle. Did my best to keep some obvious pressure in the bottle & withdrew the needle in stages to help the cork heal up. TN on Day 1: deep currant base, complemented by blackberry & red plum, …

Ruby red in the glass, long legs, expressive nose of mulberries, spice, raspberries, black cherries, beef jerky, oak. great structure, with good acidity and medium tannins that compelment each other well. neither too dense nor thin, with cured meat, black cherries, blackberries, tobacco. very complex and layered. ending is long, with barrel spice and fruits comllemented by sandalwood notes. A great wine very well-made and in a great spot now. Muscular yet elegant. We PnP’ed it - a 30 minutes decant …

This opens with a fantastic nose of black fruit and cassis. It's deep and dark in color. So expressive from the get go. Wine is signing from pnp and actually best without decanting. It shut down just a touch over 3 hours. Its lush without being heavy at all. Tannins are resolved and it has a lightness to it that is beautiful. Black fruit, currant and cassis flavors are at the forefront as you taste. This was fantastic on it's …

For me this was still in early stages of drinking. Still rustic tannins that needed 1 hr+ in decanter. Subtle oak but still present. Medium intensity on nose. Quite laid back and surprisingly elegant in general.

Well worth the wait — decanted for 30 minutes and then drunk over 3 hours. First bottle and it’s beautiful. Deep garnet. Roses and blackberries tumbled from the glass and sweet spices foreshadowed what the wine had to offer. First the blueberries, followed by blackberry crumble, cinnamon, nutmeg and cinnamon. This is lush and elegant with a beautiful texture, while maintaining a certain weightlessness. A long finish capped the experience. This was more St. Julien than Napa.

Definitely hitting it stride now with beautiful red fruit, cedar, tobacco, and vanilla bean on the nose. Palate is seamless and nicely weighted now with strawberry, red cherry, cedar, tobacco, sandalwood and a touch of clove. Well integrated with silky tannin, and a bit of grip on the back end. Starting to remind me of the elegance of some of the Beringer State Lanes of the 80s with more precision and density. Denis Malbec was just getting going in Napa …

Dark Garnet throwing just a bit of sediment at the end of the bottle. Delicate bouquet of dark fruits - a bit linear but also some mild tobacco and cedar. Silky smooth tannins that linger for a minute. Popped and poured at dinner - might have benefited from a decant as it really got better in the glass. Showing well right now and very Bordeaux with finesse and elegance.

Medium weight, maybe a little sweetness in the red cherry, but quite nicely balanced. Hard to imagine confusing it for a BDX, because of the brightness of the fruit, but made with continental sensibility and poise.

Nose: Pyrazines, Tobacco, tart berries and chocolate shavings. Palate: Harsh upon opening right now, but does mellow out with about 2 hours of air. Strawberry, Black currant, cedar, oak and bell pepper notes. Prominent green note to start. Finish: Settles into a dense herbal finish with good layers of dark fruit. Tastes from Coravin. This needs time in the cellar right now, but time will tell what is there. This could take a bordelaise turn ( I hope) or remain …

Very nice wine everyone expressed delight. Double decanted in morning it was ready for dinner. Nevertheless, for Bordeaux Blend my personal go to would be Bordeaux, where they’ve got it down after centuries of making claret.

Decanted for over an hour. Popped this 2012 in anticipation of a visit to Kapcsandy this coming August. I became aware of this wine through Bounty Hunter a few years ago and got hooked up for a visit to the winery after a tasting last year at Alpha Omega where our host Alex Sotello informed me that his dad is the Cellar Master at Kapcsandy. Color - definitely showing it's Bordeaux style compared to the Napa cab we were drinking the same night - more garnet than ruby Burnt notes a little funk, over-ripened plum on the nose Grippy tannic, and tight the first 2 hours, but fruit emerging after a lengthy decant. I’d almost compare it to a super-intense pinot…strawberry backed with acidic structure and restrained alcohol.

Explosive fruit on the nose; almost didn't want to taste it. Dark fruit, menthol...wow. On the palate, still plenty of tannins so it could obviously hold for years to come. But it's fairly approachable now, with cedar, oak, and deep fruit...complex, yet approachable. If you can wait...do so.

Cab franc and merlot- we had with steak - it seemed to need about a 1hr decant to open up- enjoyable but not in the league of their grand vin or other top offerings- but not in their price category either- I think it was about$125- so average QPR. Riveting aftertaste of Marasca cherries, initial piercing aromas of dark fruit, slightly drying tannins but not harsh, mature but not old. Thanks to CT I knew to give it lots of air, three hours worth to start and it needed it. Continued to drink well for the next hour or so. When a big batch of this wine landed in Stockholm, released on the state monopoly, most wine friends I know felt instinctively that something must be wrong for a wine of this pedigree from Napa, with age, at a reasonable price (well, 100 USD is 100 USD and not cheap by any means), to drop on us ill fortunate Swedes in the middle of winter. I took a bet on a different theory: that maybe this was a vintage with …

From a pristine bottle; popped and poured. Purple core with no signs of age. Notes of black cherry, cassis, mocha; with airing, hints of black truffle emerge. Medium to full bodied, lush and concentrated, but with good grip and delineation on the long finish.
