I’m a huge fan of decent Sekt and this offering from Von Buhl has been reliable hitherto. I suspect it was oxidised. First flag was the colour: dark gold. The wine is only 11 years old, not 30. There were sherry type notes which I wasn’t expecting. Still a drinkable bottle for all that, perhaps one day somebody will produce a Fino or Amontillado Cava? Really nice sekt. Really really sharp, linear, bracing acidity. Very fresh, citrus, green apple, pear, white peach. Autolysis noticeable on the nose, palate is much more primary and acid driven. Very good, can easily age.

No formal notes. Recall it to be soft and open with nice weight – and very typical spät with ripe rasp- and strawberries. Yet somehow it lacked depth and nuances to receive high score.

Medium lemon color. Clean nose showing notes of green apple, lime, lemon, peach, apricot, brioche, biscuit and dashes of yoghurt. Dry with a lively acidity and low alcohol. A very good wine - precise, well-balanced with a long aftertaste and quite creamy mousse. Could be more complex.

Pale green and light spritz. Apple aromas, crisp apple fruit on entry but a nice rounded, slightly leesy finish. Good balance.

Saturday afternoon slow sipping of, arguably, the best Riesling we have ever tried. Perhaps it was the bubbles? Dunno, but a very bubbly and happy bubble. Straw yellow with well-dispersed, fine bubbles. Fresh, fruity, sightly tangy aromas with a warm, full feeling on the nose. Dry, fruity, slightly tangy, smooth, fresh finish. A very enjoyable experience on the palate. A winner from A to Z, particularly at the price!

colour between pale yellow and pale golden, fine mousseux, smells of grapefruit, sour apples and nuts, medium body, in the aftertaste nuts and a little bit of grapefruit, medium length, a well made wine that has character and rough edges, definitely not a crowd-pleaser, in my very personal view the nuts and the grapefruit are simply not my cup of tea

Huge, heavy bottle. The wine was a little foamy, with very fine perlage. It offered boatloads of apples, some peach and rye bread on the nose. On the palate again apple for days, some peach, rye bread and almond, with fresh, medium-plus acidity and superb length. The wine finished grapefruity, bitter and dry. It was ripe, broad and flashy upon entry, then grapefruity and fresh, and always in balance. Intriguing stuff! Competently made. Very good value.

Red apple, brioche, yeasty, oxidative in style. Very broad on the palate at first, richer, more generous, then the Riesling character comes out with a very precise, focussed, mineral mid palate, leading to a laser-like, pointed finish of great length. Very very nice. 91-93

Good wine friends; random wines (@ JK) : Concentrated and tasty bubble. Slightly oxidized style. Broad. Firm citrus and grapefruit bitterness in the finish. A mouth full. 90 – 91

There has been a lot of fuss about Bollinger's Mr Kaufman now working for von Buhl and thus about this sparkling. The wine deserves some. Perfect perlage, great mouthfeel, you have the champagne sensation with a Riesling taste, complete with apple, brioche, apple pie and some grapefruit. There's some celery and white pepper as well, but never unpleasant. A triumph. Drink but also save some if you can manage.
