Good color--not much sign of age. Pleasant bouquet and flavor with the characteristic Volnay softness. Balanced and with a smooth finish, but a bit lacking in fruit. B+

April Fools Dim Sum; 4/2/2011-4/3/2011 (Seattle, WA) : Pop and pour. Light ruby red. Good aromatics showing florals and red fruit. On the palate, good pure tart cranberry balanced with earthy tones. Medium bodied, tons of structure. High acidity makes for a good mouthfeel. Firm tannins and good length here. This has a long life ahead.

Still young. Plenty of fruit, rather powerful, spicy, prominent tannins, some bitter chocolate on finish. I think this will develop further over the next few years and become more refined.

Rich red fruit nose early, although it lost its vibrancy over the evening but did develop a a little rhubarb and cream. On the palate, beautiful red fruits, some caramel, very precise, soft and silky. Finish a little short and aa touch drying. Not the most exciting but elegant and worked well with roast chicken. Would rebuy at the right price and it was throughly enjoyed.

Very consistent with the bottle had last November. Dark berries, wet earth and leaves. Pretty spice. Beautiful on the palate; lots of length. Great balance.

On the nose, briary dark red berries with some wet leaves and some slight spice. Ripe red fruit on the palate with some earthy flavors. Nice acidity on the backend. Drinking very well at the moment.

The nose is earthy. I also smell cola and a faint hint of flowers - overall very pretty In the mouth, light to medium bodied, slighty spicey with second tier (weaker) red fruit flavors. Overall quite nice. After some contemplation I detect smoked meat (subtle) on the palate as well. For me one of those burgundies that makes you say 'A Ha, this is what Burgundy can be'. The nose is wicked good, and I think I'd like it even …

Enjoyed with Lorraine at Stein Erikson Lodge in Deer Valley, Utah. Medium ruby red color. Nice Burgundian nose of earth, minerals, raspberry and cherry. Medium body with nice acidity. The red fruits come through on the somewhat tart palate. The finish is not what it should be for a $80 bottle of wine.
