Blind Pairings Tasting - Which Bottle Costs More? (Casa Golferchris, NW Suburbs, Chicago) : Blind tasted in pairing with 03 Hartford Russian River Zin. In the tasting pairing the simplicity of this wine was evident. Lots of fruit, pleasant nose but very little complexity or depth. Decent value for the money but just shows why it makes sense to spend a bit more to get a wine like the 03 Hartford Zin.

Decent, sub $15 Zin. Aromas of cherry, red berries and spice on the nose. A nice balance of fruit and spice in the mouth with a pleasant finish. Comes up short on delivering the best that this varietal can offer but still pretty good for the price.

very good; had with NY Strips with balsamic reduction and bleu cheese; excellent choice. We really like the Dry Creek Valley zin's.

Had with baby-back ribs and it went well. Tannins on the palate...spicy...currents?...good. Will get more bottles as that is the last.
