Williams & Humbert, Cream Canasta Sherry

Quite sweet and a little more disjointed than I recall when I originally tasted this at a retailer at least 3 years ago, this was just OK and a bit of a letdown. In the sherry world, I'd rather have NV Alvear Pedro Ximénez Montilla-Moriles Solera 1927. (Side note: this did very well cooked in Rabo de Toro.)

Always good. Sweetish with plenty of singed raisin on the nose. Rich, lingering fruit and nut flavours.

With more than twice the age and more than twice the sugar of the regular Dry Sack, you can tell right away on the nose that this means business. A robust, dark/roasted sort of nose, woody and rich. Meant to compete with age-designated tawny port, I can see many a fan of those wines loving this.

Bazaar: Sweet, nutty, almost Tawny Port-like.

Game Week at the Freemasons Arms, Wiswell - Guest Chef: Josh Eggleton (from the Pony & Trap, near Bristol) (Freemasons Arms, Wiswell, Lancashire, England) : Orange, nuts, salinity and a hint of anchovy on the nose. On the palate, there's a bit of a caramel feel at first, along with candied orange and lots of umami. Possibly a touch simple, but very good match with a gutsy, almost feral game terrine with pickled quince.

A Little hazy in the glass but did this pack a punch. Has all the acidity and walnutty brilliance of a dry Oloroso but with a sweet finish. Great intensity, rich dark and brown. Loved it.
