From a bottle purchased around 2002-2003. Dark color, Great floral nose with orange blossom and a hint of sweetness. Medium bodied, sweet but not cloying. Peach and orange marmalade with enough acid to balance the sweetness and keep the alcohol in balance. Flavors carry through on the finish. Med tawny. Pronounced aromas of dried peach, dried apricot, caramel, biscuit, Earl Grey, orange peel, brown sugar, black tea. Luscious, med acidity, full body, med alcohol, soft low tannins, long finish. Damn tasty.

Pale amber with copper hints and high viscosity (18% ABV). The nose is stunning. Intense aromas of blood orange marmalade, honey, pretty florals, dried orange peel- it's very linear but full on. The palate is sweet, smooth and luscious with medium (+) acidity to counter the sugar. Pale amber with a yellow-green rim. Fig, honey, raisin, caramel, molasses, over ripe tropical fruit, ripe banana, dried orange, nutty, light roast coffee, milk chocolate, clove. Sweet, full bodied, medium acidity, high alcohol.

Deep amber Pronounced on the nose with blossom, peach, currant, orange peel, caramel, dried apricot, and marmalade. Fully developed. Pronounced and sweet on the palate. Medium alcohol, full body, medium plus acidity, light tannins, long finish. Drink now. Not suitable for aging or further aging. Really enjoyable first Rutherglen Muscat. Paired very well with Christmas pudding!

Fortified WSET study group then quick supps at E&M's (sans M) (Ivy Bottle Shop, Sydney) : Floral, citrus, brown sugar, orchard fruit, nice, balanced, lovely.

Low acid, low tannin, sweet. Alcohol clearly present on the back end for nice warmth without being too hot. Nice complexity of fruit flavors with dried black currant, plum sauce, dried fig. Layers of flora notes, vanilla. Full body with good length. Overall quite delicious, and made a nice complement to peach cobbler, but was good on its own as an after-dinner drink. Probably could’ve held on for many more years. Will seek out again.

This has been sitting in our cellar since 2007. Found it when reorganizing. Absolutely delicious. Deep tawny color. Like liquid raisin and dates in a glass with toffee finish. Absolutely not over the hill.

Australian Far From Ordinary Tasting (Chicago Athletic Association - Chicago IL) : Walkaround tasting, brief note. More floral and engaging vs Muscadelle, even if less weight or complexity on palate. Also very good value and enjoyable.

Deep amber, hazy. Wonderful aromas, caramel, sweet spices, . Full body, silky texture, dense flavor, burning hot mouthfeel, long aftertaste. Typically very sweet but balanced by the 19% high alcohol and acidity. Concentrated raisin juice, tamarind, herbal, caramel, buttery, malty, complexity prevents palate fatigue. Addictive, never tires one.

The nose and palate show mild notes of musk stick, apple slices, dried fig, and lemon peel. Mild sweetness is balanced by clean spirit, giving it a clean finish.

I think this is very nice, combining flowery aromas with dried dates, apricots, caramel and hazelnuts. As you would expect the palate is luscious, thick, and yet with all the sweetness it still manages to retain some freshness. Quite pleasant.

Tawny with some ruby highlights. The first thing you get from the nose is alcohol, then coffee, toffee and Turkish Delight. The palate is incredibly sweet with figs, Christmas pudding and quite a bit of alcohol too. Lacks complexity and doesn't have the acidity to balance out the richness and sweetness.

Aromas consistent with previous notes, but after having this a few times on different nights, the heat of this wine has really started to get to me. My palate is tired even before finishing a small glass, but maybe it's just not my style. Your mileage may vary.

Blood orange color. Aromas of nuts, cloves, and huge notes of fig. Palate is hot on the finish, but has a relatively lifted front end. This wines is delicious, however, not particularly complex albeit fairly developed.

A small glass at a wine lunch. On the nose, lots of orange and some tea. The palate is more of the same, along with sugar and alcohol. Meh....
