Double decanted two hours before service. Light red color. Red fruit on the now and palate. The wine seems more advanced than I would have expected at this point. These should be drunk soon.

3rd Friday Group Tasting (J&J's) : Double blind. Just the slightest bit of bricking at the meniscus. Aromas of red berry fruit and candied cherry along with pine needle and herb qualities. Medium-bodied with flavors of wild strawberry, licorice, cherry and herbs. Excellent, and pretty easy to pick out as a Beaujolais. Very nice. (J2)

Tasted blind, the nose was showing sweet menthol and clove, like Lynfred's red christmas wine. Not at all correct for this wine. It must have been an off bottle, because this wine never shows like this.

Double decanted three hours before service. This amount of air let the wine open up beautifully. The color is bright purple with no color loss. Great fruit and acidity, but with a touch of sulfur coming out at the finish. The wine has at least 15 years of life left, but drinks very well right now with sufficient air.

Dark. Large scaled. Tart cherry and a dash of herbs. A touch of funk. Creamy yet with good grip. Drinking marvelously.

Opened 1 1/2 hours in advance. Fragrant sweet berry menthol aroma. Melange of flavors with elements of blackberry, forest floor and herbs. Full, almost floral, finish with an acid bite. Still holding something back, but rounder and more complex than last time.

Deep primary purple-quite extraordinary for Gamay. Kirsch and black cherries. Oh lord, this is juicy, but its acidity holds it in check and prevents it from seeming syrupy. Some creosote and herbs creep in toward the end. This is exciting cru Beaujolais that still showcases vibrant fresh fruit but is just beginning to get some complexity as well.

Some Brett/excessive barnyard qualities, but became less overbearing after an hour open. Otherwise floral and tart red fruits. Some sediment at the bottom. Fresh and enjoyable.

This is a wine that is the epitome of what Gamay can be. The wine is showing spice, violets, raspberries and a little smokiness. It may be shutting down a little, but opens with a good bit of air. This will age well for at least 10 years.

Pretty little Beaujolais. The ripe 2009 fruit shows quite a bit, and since there isn't a ton of acidity, this is on the verge of being flabby.

I made the mistake of pop and pour. Not only was there some Brett (never fully went away, but was more than acceptable eventually), but initially it had that 09 juicy fruit quality. An hour later, it was animale and very nice.

Immensely bretty. Otherwise pleasant, supple, juicy, full of ripe fruit, on the one hand fermented grape juice rather than wine but on the other hand not a pinched as many other Beaujolais. Okay length.

Definitley has some barnyard brett, but not too much to be offensive. Gotta admit, I liked. Good acidity and pairs nicely with food. NIce cherry flavors.
