Fratelli Berteletti Bramaterra Castello di Lozzolo

Definitely past prime, but quite drinkable for the first 30 minutes. Lots of tertiary notes of dried fruit, dried flowers, earth, and leather. Lots of that bottle sweetness that comes from age... but this faded and oxidized fairly quickly.

Much better than the last bottle I encountered. This starts a touch oxidative and tired, with some faded red fruit on the palate but really freshens up with some time in the decanter, shedding the oxidative elements and becoming sappier and brighter. It doesn't have the complexity of the Barolo, but it's a very enjoyable, compelling wine to follow with some air.

Pre-Holiday Dinner @ Home : After a flawed (maderized) bottle, it is good to know that this wine is still alive. Quite mature with dried leaves, earth and leather, but there is some fruit in there as well. Wonderful acids that keeps this refreshing and food friendly. Even on day two, although the fruit had dried up and it was all about secondary aged flavors, it was still drinkable with food -- thanks to that Nebiolo structure.

Incredible aromatics, very floral. Palate - Cherry fruit, strong floral (rose), slight tar, nice spice, lingering finish. Really impressive. Nice color - seems like a young wine.. Cork broke apart. Decanted. Really well integrated.

Various Wines @ Salil's (Vernon, CT) : Not sure if this was just over the hill, or a mistreated bottle. The condition seemed sound from a visual inspection, but this was badly maderized.
