Peak drinking right now. Plummy, toasted oak with some spice.

Deep garnet with nose of ripe sour cherries, rhubarb, some fruitcake and raisin, dry forest floor and tree bark. Vibrant acidity balanced with a rich almost liquorous texture, full-bodied, very ripe fruits and a focus on baked red fruits. Warming and generous with a mid-palate showing damson, fruitcake and even prune yet displaying a sour cherry twist at the end. Spices linger in the background throughout and add intrigue to a well-developed wine that is holding its own. Rather a …

I wish more Super Tuscan'ts were like this. Full bodied, big, and concentrated but with elegance and balance. Not overly boozy or hot, good length, and nice fuzzy tannins. Still has years ahead of it but is drinking well now.

Well made merlot, very concentrated, built for the long haul. Tannins are still young so best to let this age another 5+ years before it gets into a prime drinking spot.

Great length and complexity. Full-bodied but elegant and seamless. Outstanding and drinking every well.

This was great with food. Rich, full, lush merlot fruit. Long finish. Excelled with Lamb. However, the glass after dinner wasn't at the same heights. The lush mouthfeel is achieved with the help of perhaps some RS? Either way, this is delicious, and extremely enjoyable to drink. But the lack of balance knock it down from being a really stellar bottle of wine.

Dark colour, intense, quite concentrated fruit, still very vigorous; power rather than elegance, but very impressive.

Rich, full cherry/plum flavours, with a spice edge to it. Attractively mature, but still fresh and lively. A fine example of a modern Tuscan wine.

This is one solid bottle of wine, however I probably wouldn't pay the asking price. Tight and acidic at first. Threw in a decanter for an hour. The aromatics open up with red currant, cranberry, and dried cherries. Lots of herbal notes with minerality and spice. The palate starts off with bright, high acid red fruits and berries. Transforms into an elegant dried red berry, warm spices, earthy concoction that pleases the palate. I would have thought the Sangiovese content …

Bacchus blind tasting (My place) : Tight dark red color. Ripe fruit on the nose, blackcurrant and plums, and notes of leafs, mint and some tobaco. On the palate there is dark fruit, juicy plums and some oak. The oak becomes more apparent on the midpalate and finish, together with some tobaco and dry matter. Nicely balanced wine, but lacking some character at the moment.

Got a few of these at a great price, so had to pop one open to check it out. Terroirists aren't going to be very enthralled with this wine. It would be difficult to guess this came from Italy. It's a good example of the type of wine so often derided by people who worry about the parkerized sameness of wine around the world. That being said, this is some tasty juice. The nose and palate are very ripe, bordering …

Powerful, intense, brambly fruit; blackcurrants, spice and pepper (from the 14%) alcohol. Still youthful and should evolve well over the next 3 to 5 years.

Marchesi de' Frescobaldi (Parco dei Principi, Rome) : My last wine in the tasting and I must have run out of steam. Simply wrote "good tannic bite for a mostly-Merlot wine," and a score.

Jeff’s: Tannic, earthy, and a bruiser to start out with. Grt promise and structure, but too young.
