Not Talenti’s best effort in my experience but still quite good. Can’t add much to Canoehead’s notes, which are spot on. Needs to be open awhile and then really comes into its own. Can carry a tune, but doesn’t sing.

Maxflight of Brunellos (Wilmot Wine Emporium) : Part of a Brunello tasting with three vintages of Talenti as the feature event. Dark Garnet with a slight brick rim. Puzzling nose at first. Not offering up much on the fruit side of bouquet. More a savoury, earthy nose. Some alcohol heat on the nose and on the palate. Wine was barely balanced at first. Crunchy red fruit and spice notes. Acidity was the highest of all Talenti BdM's tasted. As the …

A little oxidation right out of the bottle. This cleared up and drank very well, with leather, tobacco and some ripe cherry lurking underneath. Firm.

Very nice mid weight traditional BdM. Nice to drink but nothing to distinguish it.

2008: Medium red with pale tawny edge. Sour cherry, leather, raspberry nose. This is open in the mouth, with sour cherry being dominant and the tannin strong and smooth. There is richness but not great detail. 2010: Medium red with tawny edge, ever so little darker and younger looking than 2008. Nose has cherry, raspberry and a vanilla oak imprint. Dark red berries, menthol, with a grippy tannic spine. Long fruit and tar finish.

this was a magnum. Lot of funk on the nose which was gone after 2 hours of decanting. Not a lot of fruit earthy, herbaceous with some cola hints not much on the back end drink now.

Drank over four hours with a short decant. Got better as time passed. Burgundy colored, medium + body Red fruit. Cherries and raspberries Wow! In a perfect place for sure. Balance is on point. red fruit is present as is a hints of charcoal and flint. Medium + finish. An excellent wine at a VERY fair price. Case worthy for sure. Smoke an Sobremesa

Fantastic aged Brunello. Stunning aged nose of dried flowers and earth. Excellent structure, a myriad of flavors and a very long finish. Great food wine as well. At prime. Can be held longer, but why wait...

Very dark. Modern styled yet nicely restrained with good acidity to keep it balanced. Dark fruits, a bit of spicy oak; alive and in a good spot. Not extraordinary, but a very good food wine, went very well with some homemade meat lasagna. Decanted about an hour. Still some years of life left.

Drank from a magnum at Born and Raised at the end of the first day of the Ride to Conquer Cancer. This wine did everything right on this night. Dark deep purplish red colour; still gives a youthful impression. Nose of complex forest floor, dark red cherries and savoury notes. Palate is light in texture, yet intense in flavour, balanced with fine ripe tannins. And the finish is smooth and long. It does not get much better for Brunello.

In a perfect place. Drink now, but I’m sure it has life left in this window. No formal notes. A decant of 2-3 hours was perfect. Have had hundreds of Brunellos and this was one of the best.

From 375ml. One of my favorite producers despite its remote location and reputation for being a modern style, which I disagree with. I think its much closer to Altesino in the north versus a Valdicava. First Talenti I have given a below ninety score. Nose was very nice, with tons of spice, flowers, and raspberries. Its offers medium bodied red fruits, but with a strong tang and some bitter notes and tarred herbs. Not even close to the previous year …

Wine with a darker fruit profile, full bodied and still evolving, though very savory, with tannins turning sweet and full. Very much in my wheelhouse; would let this mature a bit longer.

Dark garnet core out to a thin watery rim - no orange showing yet. Youthful. Clean and med nose of ripe red and black fruit, floral notes, spice - complex already even at this young an age. Dry with mouth filling fruit, earth, spice - and just a touch of oak? Penetrating on the palate with med + acid and alcohol, med body and ripe tannins - this is velvety smooth and I could nose it all night. Extremely well …

This wine was a great example of why I love Brunello. It was medium body but with a long finish that highlighted an excellent balance of tannins. I thought it got better after it sat out for about 30 mins and really opened up.

Decanted for about an hour prior to pouring, this wine showed very little sediment but benefited from the aeration. The bouquet shows mix of mostly mature notes with some underlying youthful elements. The aromatics provide a nuanced mix of black cherry, cigar ash, chocolate, blackberry and floral notes. The color is a tarnished dark ruby that softens at the edges. The medium bodied palate shows balance and depth. Subtle tannins and still vibrant acidity make an appearance on the finish. …

Medium red. Very earthy red fruit with lots of pepper and butcher shop notes. Very earthy flavours again with pepper and meat in the mouth. Long dry finish with a animal finish. I loved this. Reminds me of the Agostini Pieri 01.

Cassis, oak and sour cherries: outright delicious, integrated flavours and tannins, maturing wonderfully. Complex, firmly structured but welcoming, like a lecture on Ellington by Wynton Marsalis followed by a 20 minute, three a.m. blues trumpet solo. Wish I had more, but the wife's 'one in one out' wine policy reigns supreme. Mind you, she did bring me the bottle back from a trip to Milan years ago, so fair enough on this occasion!

Wines From Around the Globe Overwhelmed My Taste Buds (Fairway, NYC) : I am in the definite minority in thinking this had a short finish. This is the best Italian wine I've ever had. Mind you, I don't prefer Italian wine, but this was smooth and kep the traditional characteristics of that terroir at bay. If I'd had a full glass of this, I would not have minded.

Beautiful color. Incredibly aromatic nose with dark berries, cloves, licorice, rose petals and cedar. Some immediate black cherry on the palate, and some spice (? nutmeg element) which transitions to some oak, cedar and spice, with sweet tannins and a long finish. Fantastic Brunello.
