Domaine Ricard Gamay Moelleux

Ok, I waited too long on this one. It was a nasty boy. Pennies, some acid (maybe this wine was good in it's youth) and skunky-funky.

Much like my last note. Strawberry soda, raspberry, grapefruit, citric acid on the nose. Strawberry and grapefruit rind on the palate. Plush in texture from the sugar, but the acidity and bitterness keep the sweetness in check. 88-89

I was the oddball of the group on this wine...it lacked enough acidity and verve and was dominated by a sweeter finish but the rest of the group preferrred it to the prior rose from Margui in Provence. Probably speaks to style preference.

Very fun. Strawberries, raspberries, and a little citrus on the nose. (Reminds me of Italian soda.) Light strawberry on the palate, followed by a nice grapefruit rind bitterness. It's sweet, but not cloying. Good balancing acidity. 87-88

Served somewhat cold maybe 50 at most. Never had a moelleux so no real frame of reference. Lovely light pink color, muted nose but a bit of moldy ?peach? Rather than the strawberry i expected. Fun in the mouth...attacks with a sweetness that is balanced with great acidity and then the sweetness fades while the zing increases through the finish that leaves you excited to take another sip.
