Medium garnet. A bit more on the lighter, more acidic spectrum for Sangiovese based wines. Cherries and tea leaves. Good tannins and acidity. Not super complex, but everything in balance and enjoyable.

After a proper 90 minute decant and when paired with food, this comes alive. Sour red cherry notes, subtle oak, purity of Sangiovese fruit. I believe this will get even better with a few more years in bottle.

This was much better than the last bottle of Boscarelli that I opened (a 2006 vintage that I opened in 2013), which seemed to be flawed or else in a dull spot. Lots of sediment in this bottle. This was very modern in style, but it still had all the attractive qualities of Vino Nobile, such as dusty and drying tannins, licorice, fresh fennel, plum, dark cherries, overripe strawberries, tobacco, grilled herbs, violets, and baking spices on the finish. Orange …

This wine is ruby in color. A pleasant nose greets you with vanilla bean and purple and blue fruits. Across the palate, enjoy more layers than normal for a Sangiovese. Blueberry, white chocolate and leather as it crosses your palate with a shorter finish. Fairly tannic structure may benefit from a longer time in the cellar.

A bit young but delicious. I tasted young just to know. Typical, perfect Italian food wine with a light, not-at-all viscous body, yet well extracted and ripe. Color is dark, but translucent (just), with clearing at the rim. Nose is aromatic and beautiful. Berries, dark fruits, spices, flowers. Palate is dark fruits, some mixed berries, earth, cocoa?, something in there. Fine, ripe, but immature tannins. Solid acidity to stand up to nearly anything -0 but note this makes it a …

Tasted blind. Quite polished and way younger than what I usually drink. Very persistent tannins, red and black fruit, black olives, nice wine but too modern for me.

The mistake I made was to pop n pour this wine. It was tight, restrained both on the nose and finish and it desperately needed food with it. My last glass was the best one and it began to open up in the glass. This needs a few more years to integrate and get comfortable in its own skin. I will hold for two more years before trying another or at least decant it and pair it with food the …

This is a deeply hued wine with dark cherry, almost violet, color. At first the wine is very tight. Fortunately, we had abundant time to wait and savor the first course (Caesar salad and yellowfin crudo) and allow the wine to wake up. By the time the main courses were served the wine presented well with sweet black cherry, licorice, violets and a touch of mocha. The tannins are well integrated but maybe not fully resolved. But there is no …

I have been to this winery and found where I could buy a case and jumped at the opportunity. Still a tad early to drink, this bottle was wonderful. Medium to light in body, it is very big on flavor and tannin. Tart cherry and tobacco on the front with a sweet tasting smoke and cherry in the middle. The finish is a bone-dry cherry with a black tea tannin that hangs around for a long time. I am anxious …

Traditional blend of 85% Prugnolo Gentile & 15% Colorino, Canaiolo & Mammolo. Med ruby. Med+ red cherry, blackberry, black plum, dried herbs, sweet tobacco and elegant oak treatment (18-24 mos. in a mix of large French Allier and Slavonian oak casks). Dry, consistent with the nose, with med+ acidity, tannins and alcohol (14%). Very well balanced and smooth, w/ med+ body, med flavor intensity & length. Just entering its optimal drinking window, it should show well for several more years. …

If have this in your cellar, count yourself lucky. It’s drinking beautifully. Balanced, still full of fruit with complexities derived from 11 years of aging. We have another bottle that we’re going to leave for another two years. Enjoy this on its own, with salumi and formaggi, or with any typical Tuscan cuisine.

Last of my 2006 bottles. Wasn't quite sure what to make of it. The fruit was there but kinda muted, the earth wasn't too strong - which I like - but overall, maybe the wine was tired but still had good fruit? That doesn't seem to work in my mind. Wish I had just one more to check on it, but its been a glorious decade long run with many fun consumptions between then and now.

Visiting Montepulciano : You clearly sense the similarities with the riservas, but in a less expressive version. Good balance of woody, savoury and spicy notes, with some floral and light fruity notes. Not very expressive, but pretty. The tannins are quite high, and I am not sure they will soften before the fruit disappears. Try in a few years time.

Tasted at the winery. This followed the 2014 Rosso, and was a noticeable shade darker - full garnet with a watery rim. 85% PG, with the balance made up by Cannaiolo, Colorino and Mammolo). Clean, and bright fruits are forced to take a back seat to the floral perfumes for the first few minutes. On the palate, the tannins waste zero time making their presence known. This is a wine with great potential, and one I will attempt to source. …

A nice VNdM with cherry notes and a little earth. Still wound a little tight and needed more than the 3 hour decant to soften up the tannins a little, but certainly not unbearable. Not quite as nice as Poliziano Anisone but a great value at $32USD.
