Kraftig Rioja som jag tippat varit en Ribera i ett blindtest. Bra matvin, perfekt match med en lagrad Manchego också. För surt och strävt för att dricka för sej själv. Egentligen än 3,5a men får 4 för att det är så prisvärt med 129 pix. Ett vin att dricka igen vid rätt tillfälle! Vinner på luftning, godare dag 2.

TN of December 13, 2018 remains my standard. A dill note should be added. Day 1 was a 92. As before, it stood up well later (88 - 89) , but not on the level of day 1. This was my last bottle. Note to myself: leave this product for 10 years after vintage, then consume most of it on day 1.

Now peaking, according to my slightly decadent proclivities. Wish I had kept all my bottles until now, but needs to be consumed rather swiftly. Kept well over 4 days with a vacuum stopper, but my subjective impression was a 91 (!) on day 1 which descended to an 89 by day 3. Wonderful nose of dried tomato and fresh green pepper veggies, some pepper powder. Same on the palate which is now very nice, too, and adds some cooked strawberry …

Very drinkable. In a hot place right now but I don’t see this benefitting from any more cellaring Pnp gave nice fruits and toast notes. Started to taste a little stewed when on the final glass with the bottle having been opened for a few hours.

Clearly better than last time I tried it (was: 87) in 2014, the oak seems to have resolved somewhat. In a good place now, and I expect it to peak in 1-2 years: perhaps potential for an 89 - 90? Still and again great qpr. Bottle opened for 30 mins before the dinner (falafel) was ready. Smooth and balanced on the palate, not overdone nor too discrete. Goes along very well with Mediterranean dishes. I like it a lot and so did 90% of the people I have offered it to. 90/100 p.

ChTR kokous 09.04.2014 (SKO-toimisto) : Decanted, tasted double blind. A fairly light red with a distinct browning to it. The nose was powerful cassis, with tons of oak and with air some notes of moccha. The palate was gloopy, black currant juice, oak blasting through, not much tannins. This was too much for me, a huge gloopy wine. Modern style Rioja? Tastes like a Chilean Cab to me.

Offered at a party, the guests liked it a lot. A very well balanced Rioja in my opinion. I really like the bouquet of vanilla, plums and wood, as well as the round, smooth and long lasting taste. A very good wine!

In my opinion this is a wine you can offer to many people. You get a lot of wine for less than 10€ (13$). Let it breathe for some minutes and the initial alcoholic sharpness goes away. A real charmer, smooth and intense, really enjoyable.

Had another bottle yesterday. I can confirm the impressions from my previous notes. Pretty easy to drink, considering the 20 months barrique. Not woody at all, decanting not necessary. Overall this was my 6th bottle of BdL Reserva (07/08 vintage). All of them were consistently good. A very good QPR for 9-10€, available in many German onlineshops.

Finally, the 2008 vintage. I love this one, too. For me it has everything a 15$ / 10€ Rioja can have and should have. It has a great nose with intense berry, vanilla, tabaco, plum and cherry aroma. Maybe still a little alcoholic, but only slightly, compared to the 2007 vintage. 89 p. The taste is great, too. Medium(+) ruby, tear-shaped legs @13.5% abv. Aromas of blackberries, vanilla and toasted oak. Dry, medium-medium(+) acidity, medium(-) ripe tannins, medium body and medium(+) alcohol. Medium fresh flavors of red and black berries, cherries, a tad of chocolate and leather. Balance ok, elegant and tannin-alcohol balance provide structure. A bit of acid-related sharpness in the rather long finish. A very nice RR, will buy more.

Nice deep garnet red. Nose has dark berries, vanilla and plums. Hints of grilled meat also. The taste follows the nose and finishes with juicy plums and good length. Great QPR and a nice wine from Rioja. A "crowd pleaser"
