Compared it to 2014 Chianti I like, character of this wine is sound but the it is getting a bit long in the tooth. Still a solid wine but definately aged. Probably 2-3 years past aging window.

When asked to bring some domestic wine to go with an authentic Italian pasta buffet, I brought several CA. wines. The host opened this Sangiovese and I asked to taste it first as it had been resting in my cellar for a while. The cork came out smoothly and looked fine. There wasn't much of a nose left, nor fruit for that matter, but there was enough for a good pairing with the various pastas.

Still drinking rather well, this being the last of my '06 vintage. Not as fruity as it used to be, showing that it is a bit past peak, but it still is a tremendously nice wine to drink....especially with spaghetti dinners. It has more of an earthen/mushroomy note to it now, which is also something that is rather nice in an older wine.

A nice bottle. Very mellow at this point. Some cherry and leather. Nothing impressive going on at this point ,but very easy to drink.

Even though some have stated that this wine is past its peak, I found it much more enjoyable on the second night. To each their own, but I doubt this wine will have much time left regardless

Past it's peak, but still a nice sangio. Soft and balanced. This wine is at it's best with pasta/pizza. Would not hesitate to serve to novice or experienced wine drinkers.

Kind of perfume-y, no tannin, off-balance. Just kind of eh.

Delicious with ravioli with marinara sauce and veal. This winery consistently produces wonderful sangiovese.

Crystal ruby red. Strawberry, spice and earth on the nose. Plums and fresh cherries, good acid, smooth integrated tannins, and a medium to long finish. Balanced, really good and a great value.

Perfect wine for pizza. 2006 is softer and more elegant but has the pop for red sauces.

Strong, a little rustic, complex, earthy cherry fruit. Love, love love this with pizza & red sauces.

Color is darker than other Nocetos. Needs a little air to get rid of some heat and roughness. Made the mistake of opening this after finishing a bottle of 2005 Riserva, which was so much better. This vintage seems to be on a lower level than other Noceto regular vintages... not as much fruit showing here. Plenty of tannins so this should age OK.

Christmas 2009; 12/24/2009-12/26/2009 : Still improving, round forward flavors with subtlety and charm restraining it a bit. Cherry and earth and refined. So nice.

Cranberry, cherry, herbs and some chalky minerality. Solid, but this 375mL didn't taste as good as the last 750.

SPicy and rich, getting better ever month. 88-89 points and i flip flop on the score. Needs about 2 hours to fulluy open up. Beautiful strawberry on the nose and palate. Almost as big as the 2004 which is still my favorite. Nice clean earthy flavors.

Festa da Polenta with 9-Year Noceto Sangiovese Vertical Tasting (Steve and Annette Jones') : This is a real winner year. Spicy and rich compared to others. Getting better with age, too. Dusty spicy cherry earthy.

Nobody will confuse this everyday bottle with a Classico Chianti, but for the price it is an easy, interesting accompaniment to pasta and pizza with friends on a Friday night. Bright accessible red fruits, enough acid to stand up to tomato-based sauces, and just enough earthiness to remind you of Sangiovese from the Old Country.

Mini Noceto Normale Sangiovese Vertical (Leombruni's Italian Village) : Intense. Spicy cherries and potting soil. This one had no dumb phase and continues to improve. Almost as good as the 2004 was.

The beuatiful cherry and earth flavors I love of this wine. The 2006 is starting to get rich and ready to drink, although it will last for years. Medium garnet color, beautiful nose, flavors to match.

Drank w/ organic spaghetti and Italian sausage at Imperial Hotel in Amador City. Nicely balanced, with juicy sour cherry, earth/leather, creamy vanilla and a pinch of pipe smoke. Very good.

Bright red fruit with bit of spice. A little thin and tart on the palate but recoves with a good finish. Good wine but nothing too exciting.

Nice midweek bottle of wine. Especially good in mid-palate. I don't taste much spice, but light tannins at the end.
