Last bottle of four I bought at Hart Davis closeout. Decanted 2 1/2 hours. More tannic structure in this bottle compared to previous bottles. Drank over another hour. This bottle tastes young and in need of more cellaring. Burnt cherry, roses, tobacco & red fruits. I like this bottle the best because it has more structure & fullness. Not sure why the bottles variation. Solid Barolo but not at the top of my favorite Barolo Producers.

Decanted 60 minutes & pared with pasta all’amatriciana. Light weight Barolo that I can’t say I’m a fan of. Average really. I want more structure & body in Barolo. This isn’t it.

Still an amazing, light Barolo with great character and depth! Cheers!

Exquisitely elegant. All the prefume and florals you could want. Light-medium bodied, and beautifully balanced. Just a lovely example of traditional, restrained Barolo in a great spot for drinking.

Decanted 3 1/2 hours and drank over another hour. Lighter Barolo and more like a Barbaresco but with more complexity and flavor layers. Will benefit with more cellaring for sure.

Excellent! Previous reviewers did a great job, so we will leave that as already so well conveyed.

This bottle seemed to be partially corked, still drinkable and the primary characteristics hung in there, but we’ll wait to fully review until the next bottle.

Tasted at a trade tasting in NYC. Big, tannic, long and powerful. Better acidity than many other 2015’s. Very nice wine that should have a long life.

At the winery, the bottle was opened yesterday. Round hefty and delicious, consistent with the previous notes from other reviewers.

Azelia Winery Visit; 5/29/2019-5/31/2019 : Tasted during visit at the winery with Lorenzo. Slightly reductive and needs some serious swirling in the glass to open up a little. Dark, deep and full of character, but also a little more austere than it sometimes shows when it‘s young. Notes of darker fruit, tar, spices, licorice, black tea, cigar, but also some beautiful flowery notes too. It‘s medium-full bodied, with medium-high tannin that is perfectly buffered by the fruit and excellent quality, …

The nose was exuberant and fresh, showing ripe black cherry, crushed stone, minerals, dusty dried flowers, and hints of confectionary spice. On the palate, I found silky textures with a mix of black and red fruits, mounting youthful tannin and brisk acids, with saturating minerals and dark inner florals. The finish was long with powerful structure, matched by saturating dark fruits, and licorice.

(Tank Sample) The nose was dark, mineral and animal, with intense dark red and almost black fruits, hints of coco and sweet herbs. On the palate, I found soft textures offset by zesty acids, savory minerals and tart dark red fruits. Fine tannin saturated the senses, while zesty spices and dried floral tones slowly faded through the finish. (94–96 points)
