It’s been six plus years since the last time I opened a bottle of this wine; pulled from a pristine 55 degree cellar. Short decant, perfectly intact cork. Smokey Merlot and, leafy Cabernet Franc, but California style. Aromas and flavors are dominated by juicy red raspberry, cherry, strawberry, and plum, with fresh tobacco, worn shoe leather, sweet chocolate, and mulchy mountain, red dirt. Structure is unobtrusive, fully integrated, and balanced. At a point where many Napa Cabs are beginning to …

Started off similar to how it was a couple years ago but faded quicker. Within an hour it had a nice aged quality to it and then after about 2 hours it lost some of its depth, even seeming sorta monolithic. Would drink this and drink it quick (PnP and finish within a few hours). One bottle left, I'll apply this within the next year.

Another bottle, Silky and medium/big body. Some dark chocolate and dark cherry, with medium, smooth tannins.

I'm no pro as far as appreciating the nuances of particular wines and our storage has been not 100% consistent...but goddamn this wine is drinking like a house on fire. Second bottle in under a week as we push thru the last three in our cellar, and it's every bit as good as the first one but with some needed tempering of the tannins. No idea what the shelf life is, but as the saying goes, drink 'em if you …

Yum. Liquid silk, and big and round mouth that filled full. The middle was just as nice as the blue and red fruits opened up to finish with a fine dry tannin surrounded by fruit.

Def confirms the prior (and my first) bottle was off. This one was fantastic from the start - no aeration needed. Nose was wide open with so much going on - a hedonistic perfume. Speaks to its integration and balance, which were reflected in its flavor profile as well. Had a third of a bottle left for the next day. Still very enjoyable but def not as good. Will aim to drink my remaining bottles over the next 2 years.

Quite a bit of funk initially - unpleasant kind, oxidative, and it affected the palate, which I felt might have been also oxidation, but the funk did blow off and left a nice tobacco and cedar aroma, and the palate improved enough to be pleasant. But after a few hours, which I only allowed due to early funk issues, it started to fall apart - acid becoming much more pronounced and the fruit just fading fast. Still seemed to have …

My last bottle, so sad. This is a great wine and a very good value at $56 (9 years ago). The Bordeaux blend is obvious, pencil shavings, minerals, maybe still some dark fruits, long finish, very good. This note is for 1/2 a bottle about 2 months after using a coravin to take off the first half, no decline due to the coravin noted.

PnP. Joelene’s note is spot on. I would only add that it still has fine, gritty tannins on the finish.

Full bodied and fruit forward with black cherry and plum. Vanilla and cherry pie, raspberry marmalade. Very good, drinking nicely, ling finish. One complaint… a tad sweet maybe could be that it’s heavily Merlot that’s shining through. Very nice juice with plenty of primary fruit still dominating but with some secondary flavors starting to show.

Drinking well, black fruit still very present. Pleasant acidity that softened with air, gentle tannins. Long finish. Good that I have 2 more bottles!

Beautiful wine! Makes up for the flawed bottle I opened a few weeks ago which was light and bright but lacking any character - strange considering this bottle. Last one was not corked either. This is luscious and has powerful red fruit on the palate with a rich mouth feel and hints of baking spice in the nose.

From magnum, pnp and this was ready to go. Red and blue fruit on the nose with fresh herbal notes and a hint of brown sugar. The palate brings crunchy red currants with light green veggies and a punch of fresh acidity on the mid palate. This leads to a bright, tart finish with some nice minerality and length. Very well done. If I had tasted blind, I may have mistaken this for a right bank Bordeaux. The Cab Franc …

Right bank merlot characteristics all the way, very plush fruit and soft. Nose has sweet cassis, plum, leather. Palate has cassis, blackberry, plum, graphite, leather. Medium-high acid, food friendly. Fine grain tannins. Longer, cool berry finish. Alcohol is a tad hot but could also be the wine showing age and separating slightly. Drink now, 20-30 minutes open in bottle is enough to get things rolling.

Solid wine. A little truffle and damp earth on opening that gives way quickly to oak and red and blue fruit. Good balance and still plenty of tannin. Straightforward. Licorice dominates the mid palate and finish. Similar to my last bottle a year ago. Nice but nothing that really excites me. I’m not sure where this is in its evolution, but I’m willing to wait a year or 2 to open another bottle.

Deep color but light nose. Black fruits, just a bit of acidity, and nice tannins right out of the bottle; finish is balanced, smooth, and friendly, even without decanting. Decanted for an hour, which softened the initial acidity. This has aged incredibly well and may have another year left.
