Châteauneuf du Pape premium (my home (PT)) : powerful savory expression of a classic vintage. Deep nose and complex, displaying tertiary notes of leather, tobacco, and dried garrigue, layered over concentrated core fruit of dark plum and black cherry. full-bodied and dense palate, showing remarkable structure and silky, integrated tannins. It features flavors of black olive, smoke, cured meat, and a deep, earthy minerality. The finish is extremely long and persistent, confirming its status as a fully mature, classic Rhône …

Splash decanted a scant 2 hours. Slowly sipped over 3 hours. This was a hard and rewarding thing to do because this is fucking delicious. Now, I shall wax rhapsodic: This is the wine that compels us to do this whole thing with the grape. This is a wine that makes you sit up straighter, cease conversation, then lean back in your chair and let your eyes roll back into your head. If Helen of Troy could launch a thousand …

Strong Amarone-like raisin aspect to the wine. Needs plenty of air. Not what I expected, but delightful

Light intensity aroma of cherry. Medium intensity flavour of blueberry, dark cherry, black pepper. Dry, medium acidity, light tannin. Good but not worth PQR.

Wine ranked 9 of 12 for 2019 CdP tasting Raspberry on the nose. Initial mouthfeel is nice but follows with a lot of tannins and acid, could use some age. 85 pts

Couldn't say it better than Jeffe Leve!! The purity and vibrancy of the red fruit is spectacular and so young still at 17 years old. It is getting more complex after some air time so a 2-3 hour decant should be in consideration.

Combining elegance, power, purity, and complexity, this hits all the right notes from start to finish. The nose displays a floral bouquet along with kirsch, black raspberries, and red plums topped off with thyme, peppery spice, garrigue, and wet earth. The mid-palate is packed with fruit and the finish starts off strong and builds in intensity with its layers of ripe, vibrant, peppery fruits and its gorgeous sense of purity. You should lay this down for 6-7 years before pulling …

1.5 hr decant. Clean, smooth, slightly sweet, light fruit, delicate. Exceptional bottle all around.

The purity of the sweet, ripe, spicy red berries stands out here. Voluptuous, concentrated, complex, vibrant and long, with serious levels of intensity in every sip is what you will find here. Popped, poured and devoured over the next 90 minutes or so, this is just a great bottle of Grenache that's hitting its stride.

It was a cloudy deep ruby with a firm structure, full body wine. It was still young so decanting at least 2hrs, but I found it was very enjoyable after 1 hour decanting. We drank over 3 hours with some heavy taste cousins ( 炖牛肉和红烧肉), and it pared well. But I will leave the other bottles for few more years.

A little "over the top" in terms of Grenache dominance, but a good wine.

Probably flawed, this was a hot mess. Medicinal and alcoholic on the nose, stewed raisins and prunes on the palate. Two sips and down the drain. Bummer. Hopefully a bad bottle versus a bad wine. Still two bottles left.

Occasional tasting group: Extensive Southern Rhône tasting with some extra's. (@ PVa) : Extremely intense and complex. A lot of pleasant sweetness. Good and firm tannin which is also soft and approachable. Black and red fruits. The high score is because of the overall complexity. This is so complete. There is enough future, but will it ever be better?

Truly opaque ruby in color. Pepper, blackberry and plums are kissed with spice. Massive concentration and an expansive finish make this a show stopper of a Chateauneuf du Pape wine. 98+ Why is it not 100? Because for me 00 & 01 are better.

Uncorked DK: Chateauneuf 2005 Report : Very dark and dense colored. The nose is extremely intense and overwhelming with big, mature, round and delicious black fruit. Full bodied, yet the lightest compared to the Usseglio Deux Freres and Caillou Reserve. Very balanced, but not as seamless (yet?) as the 2001. The elegantier of the pack. Great CNDP, but I won't buy this where the price is headed for the moment. 95-96+.

2007 France Trip - Beaucastel, Ferrand, Vielle Julienne, Grand Veneur (Southern Rhone) : 200 cases produced. Higher-toned aromatics than the 2005 CDP. Espresso, concentrated blackberry liquor, licorice, tar, and earth. Picked up an intense dark chocolate flavor after a few minutes. Complex. Fiercely tannic and inky. Slightly drying finish. Excellent.
