The right moment to drink, no hurry though. Slightly herbal, medium volume, good acidity.

This has kept and developed really well over a decade (last noted in 2014). Deep aromatics, smooth tannins, excellent stuffing. Still fresh, can go for a couple of years more.

nose of ripe blackberries, dark fruits delicious spicy aromas long lasting on palate a really elegant Blaufränkisch, goes very well e.g. with grilled beef I like that this is not one of the "Blockbuster" Blaufränkisch you get elsewhere

similar to 2009 but fresher (see my note 5/8/2020) after opening developed very well over 1 day

The fruit has receded quite a bit and the tertiary character is not yet fully developed, but on the palate this wine still has an amazing energy which, combined with the silkiness given by age, makes it absolutely lovely. How will it further develop? Hard to say but it will be fun to follow.

I thought this wine was so super dry and full of extract. Not by any means over the hill, but it needs air to be fully appreciated. Somewhere between right bank Bdx fruit and Malbec. Kind of a head scratching wine if you ask me. Had a good pairing with lamb kebab. Smokey red/black fruit. Food wine indeed.

Kristin and Colin's 30th (Chicago, IL) : A little less juicy and exuberant than I expected this to be, with a really nice dusty component. Black fruit and fairly tannic.

Burgundy lookalike, light, aromatic. Good wine but not great

Beautiful aromas of sweet strawberries, old casks...hints of wild cherries and spices. Rather light weight with soft tannins...good structure with a short to medium finish. Needed air to open up and shine. Food wine. Ready now...unsure as to how it well continue aging. Although an interesting wine, not worth its price...CA$52.

True to the Moric style - more of a red-fruited blau evocative of perhaps beaujolais than most I've had. Some earthiness, cool-climate fruit and mild spice on the palate. Served blind to some pros, no one called blau/lemberger initially; guesses included trousseau.

I don´t really like this style and do not understand why this is so popular. Tannins and acidity won´t round up, even after some time in the glass. Blueberry is upfront but its not ripe. There is Blaufränkisch I prefer like Paul Lehrner.

Opaque; dense, packed with black fruits & morello cherries; thick, ripe tannins - a bit of bruiser. Needs more time. ***

Private Tasting (@Private location) : Clear, quite youthful color medium ruby with violet reflexes, unfiltered. Medium intense, fully matured nose reminds me of BDX with notes of Brett, violets and pencil abrasion. Dry with high acidity. Tannins are high and start to drying out the palate. Masculine, with a real edge, medium+ body, 13% abv. Good wine, usually with lot’s of potential for ageing. But because of the quality of tannins I doubt that it will be a pleasure to …

A bit gaunt, hard and sinewy. Overall a very pleasing style (at least to me). Not such a crappy liquoricey fruit stew ... Rather serious. Nicely earthy. Not bad at all.

Dark colour. Nose of black fruit and smokey. Palate with good tannins while acidity dominates. Good structure. Bar bell: strong acidity which gives it a lighter tone, yet good tannins. could use a tad more body to bridge the two.

No formal notes, but I fully follow the notes from DREAM. This was indeed a big surprise to and the 2008 vintage is by far a better QPR than the Alte Reben"neckenmarkt" or "Lutzmannsburg".

Really dark in colour with a purple rim. Spicy, expressive nose with cherries, cherry stones, red flowers. On the palate firm tannins, grippy texture with sweet fruit, good acidity and length. 89-91

Beautiful dark red spice nose with notes of black cherry and fresh minerals. Really ripe black cherry fruit along with fresh floral lift and lovely grip. Finishes with crisp acids and a delicious black cherry spice component along with chalky minerals and tip of the tongue complexity. A grippy and masculine premier cru red Burgundy in a blind tasting. Should still improve. 92+

Drunk over dinner in good company, no TN. Retasted on day two, but no much was left. The nose is quite interesting with a mix of red fruit, forest leaves, wet rocks. Nice depth. On the palate it has flavor intensity and depth, and a lot of acidity. Blood oranges, with a finish tending to bitterness and somewhat astringent. It improved somewhat on day 2, but overall I found the bitterness and acidity detracting.

Wow, this has blossomed beautifully in the cellar with a lovely nose of black cherry, black pepper and sweet earth. Quite full and round with a fine cut of cool black cherry fruit and a lot of depth and high-toned intensity. It shows excellent succulence and purity along with a delicious licorice note on the spice-laden finish. Easily mistaken for a good Gevrey Chambertin but the minerals, pepper and dark earth are unique to Blaufrankisch. This is much better with …

Fabulous stuff. Riper than most blaufränkish - aromas of italian sweet cherries more than blueberries - without being heavy, and certainly not over-oaked. It shows freshness, density, structure, spiciness, minerality and length. Drinks really well now, yet seems to have what it takes to develop over the next 10 yrs at least. Well worth its €27. Hats off!

Exemplary, classical Blaufränkisch profile, with its peppery acidity and fresh but ripe red cherries, floral topnote (violet), the old vines giving it a rare minerality and precision; silky palate, moderate tannins elegantly wrapped in flesh, pure and elegant, harmonious fresh acidity, very good length. At restaurant Do & Co in Vienna.

Fragrant, fresh and fruit, plush texture, Loire-like in its pepperiness. Very attractive, but can't see that it merits a £30 price tag.

Medium deep ruby red. It opened up slowly on the nose, but it was very nice. It had earthy notes, a bit of undergrowth and some fruit, which I would describe as blood oranges (when they start drying), and also some spices (cinnamon). The palate has also earthy notes with some (sour) cherries and finishes on chinotto (starting from the mid-palate). It is perfectly balanced, fresh, beautifully poised (light on its feet), very interesting and absolutely delicious.

Just a tasting but saw enough to know that this was pretty good. Shows a sort of smoky, meaty scent combined with a tar like quality reminding me of Nebbiolo without the hurly burly tannin.

Nothing on the nose. Very tannic and unyielding for a Blaufrankisch but after some coaxing there is nice cherry/resberry fruit underneath. A more serious style but I can't tell yet whether it's an overdone Reserve bottling or just meant to age further. We'll see.
