Stunning bottle of Pinot Noir. Wish I had saved more of this!

Large meniscus in the glass and some substantial sediment in the bottle, nice to see with the man-made cork. Dark cherry and lots of earth, very appealing, good acidity to match with grilled tuna. Last and best of a case of various 2005 Ken Wright's purchased on release. Think this is at its apex.

Notes of plum, dark fruit, cherry and earth. Cherry and earthy dark fruit on the palate. Finishes with good length and balance.

after struggling with a few bordeaux/burgundies that didn't live up to expectations this past week, i was in the mood for something accessible and this hit the spot. might have resulted in me giving it an extra point or two. i can't disagree too vociferously with the people here who gave it a lower score, though i wouldn't call it so jammy that you get tired of it....it was definitely not that kind of drinking experience. the wine was open, …

Lighter than I expect from a Shea. A bit flabby. I don't know if it was just this bottle or the wine. Had some nice earthy notes.

Stored perfectly since release. Big wine. Big fruit. Fully integrated. Still in good shape. Concentrated cola extract. Ready now or will age another 5+ years.

Big, ripe, liqueur nose of blackberries, iodine and some minerals. This is sweet and lush to taste, enough that I am thinking bad thoughts, but just enough pinot typicity shows up to save the day. A Little tiring to drink. Pretty good, but not really my style.

Did not decant. Drank over the course of 2 hour dinner. Initially hot. Classic 2005 darkness/raisin-y fruit. Very rich and smooth, but lacking complexity and litheness. Towards the "California" end of the spectrum for Oregon Pinot. Not bad by any means, but did not quite live up to expectations given the winemaker and vineyard. Agree with others- no need to hold onto it longer at this point.

Very dark for a pinot noir and cloudy when held over the light, which I like. No need to filter on my account. The Wright Shea is very enticing on the nose, not shy at all about showing off gobs of dark fruits and wood spice. The fruit displays no oxidation but is certainly ripe. What I missed on the nose was an aspect of soil, or earth, perhaps disguised by the high amount of glycerin. In the mouth this …

My wife said that everyone loved this wine, even white wine drinkers. At its peak.

Pop/pour. Very aromatic nose reminiscent of floral soap, joined by a hint of earthiness. On the palate, good fruit depth on a medium rich body, with a nice balancing acidity. Some remaining tannins, particularly as this opens up in the glass. As Matt suggests in an earlier note, this is drinking well now. One of the better Ken Wrights I've had (I'm normally not a fan) but I'm a sucker for Shea Vineyard. Day 2 - the remaining half bottle, …

Nose: Chalky, loamy aromas with bright raspberry and cherry. Some faint cola and herbal aromas as well. Palate: Good acidity with the raspberries and underipe cherries showing. Last bottle of this and drinking great. I would not wait on this. Pop and pour and drink up.

Shea Tasting (Kevin's House) : Great right out of the bottle. Strawberry, minerals, spice, mushroom and cherry. Medium finish. As the night went on it went down hill a bit. Drink now!

OR Pinot Tasting ~ Shea Vineyard Focus (Kevin's House) : Nose: Red and dark fruits with assorted minerals and flowers, orange blossom. Palate: Red and dark fruits with spice show. Still youthfull acidity and a medium length finish. While this wine showed well initially it reaaly broke down so the 92 points is reflective of it's best showing. After about an 1 1/2 hours open it really died out so I would say drink up within the next year and …

Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir Mini Offline (Rocknroller's (Kevin's)) : Dark red color, clarity is murky. This wine was a bit of an enigma. It was basically a pop and pour, and start off quite nice. The nose showed ample amounts of florals, forest floor, a touch of funk, black cherry , some cranberry. The palate initially had nice balance and depth, black cherry, kirsch, tart, with a nice finish. After about an hour to and a half, this really changed, …

Upon pop-and-pour, nose has distinct "Pinot Funk", but blew off to reveal tart cherry and pie spice, a little minerality in the form of dusty gravel road, and earthy notes in the forrest floor range. Great acidity and more weight than I had expected. Aged nicely, but I would drink anything you have in your cellar now. Lovely.

Very smooth -- a bit thin, but a nice, elegant pinot. A very good example of the Shea vineyard.

A nose of dusty cherry and spice, medium cloudy ruby in color. A smooth, now elegant, medium to full bodied. Has cherry, black raspberry, cinnamon and earthy dusty herbs, very good, decant and drink soon, classic Oregon Pinot.

A nose of dusty cherry and spice, medium cloudy ruby in color. A smooth, now elegant, medium to full bodied, was too tight a couple years back. Has cherry, black raspberry, cinnamon and earthy dusty herbs, very good but has lost some of it’s backbone, decant and drink soon.

A bit of funk that blew-off early to reveal nice oak and dark-cherry integration. Nice finish and acidity.

This wine was so balanced and harmonized it still makes my mouth water thinking of it. Sadly this was our last bottle. We know this 13 yr old Pinot held up as soon as the cork was pulled and the blast of fruit that intoxicated the air swirled through by our nose. The bouquet was so wonderful that our waitor waived our $20 corkage w/out a single taste!

Full of admirable fruit that shows in both the nicely present nose and the relatively long aftertaste. That said, I found the wine marred by two things: There's an underpinning of tart, bitter acidity that mars the mouth somewhat, and the wine is a bit simple for a KW Shea, perhaps because of the acidity. The fruit is there, and the nose is there, and the length is there; hopefully, the acid with temper and wine will come around.
