Very elegant, almost Burgundian but on steroids

Translucent cherry red in color. A fragrant floral nose. On the palate the fruit is pure and silky. It shows cherries, bit of blueberry and roasted meats, spice. Round tannins (need to soften a bit), great acidity and balance. Finishes long and subtle with cherry notes. It needs 3 to 4 years to peak, but it drinks very well now.

Bright berry fruit on the nose. Lush cherry fruit on the palate, warm spices, bit of rare roast meat. The fruit has an almost crystalline quality across the palate. Firm, finely polished tannins, great acidity and balance. Long, long finish; the fruit is darker and the spice more evident, but all in balance. Lovely stuff. Give it 3 to 4 years to peak and it will probably drink well long past that.

Domestic Only- Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA) : Reddish violet with pale rim, good clarity; raspberry, ash, high toned and elegant on the nose, tart red fruit, subtle beautiful power, nice tart fruit, talc texture, pomegranate, underbrush; delicious, better than previous bottle.

Rhone, lots of it (Chicago, IL) : From magnum. I didn't like this anywhere as much as I did last year. It's clearly a heady wine, with tons of fruit, but there's also a fair bit of ripeness and alcohol here, and I think that between the last time I tasted this and now, the wine has started to shut down a bit, so the luscious fruit that once used to counterweight the alcohol is not on full display, leading …

Flickinger Customer Appreciation Tasting (Casino Club - Chicago IL) : Tasting from 3L, brief note. Lots of black fruit and roasted meat with anise. Clearly ripe, yet restrained. Impressive old vine concentration. Very long and well balanced.

Flickinger Tasting at The Casino (Chicago, IL) : From a plot right next to Rayas, I'm told. A very, very good CdP indeed. This is a clean wine, with tons of ripe fruit, but it's all held together in a really restrained way, in that it never gets overly sweet or jammy. Obviously young, the tannins at this point are a real chew. But this is amazing for what it lacks: oak.

Earthy, nutty, smoked herbs and peppery cherries gets the on the road. Next, you find all the sensuous, luscious, sweet kirsch you need. The wine is elegantly styled with refined, yet supple textures and a sweet and spicy, kirsch finish. This wine is made from 100% Grenache, hence the name Pure.

Chateauneuf-Du-Pape domaine visits : Tasted at the domaine. Cask sample. Aromas of black raspberry compote, cracked pepper, flowers and spices. Rich, spicy, and powerful on the palate, yet focused and balanced. The palate shows red fig, and a melange brambly earth and spice notes. Silky, creamy tannins. Full finish. Outstanding.
