Despite being rested upright for 6 months, could only decant 4/5ths of the bottle due to that fine sediment. Initial nose had candy and fungus. I let sit for 3 hours. Nose held real, with that strange pungent smell of gnats guts. I couldn't see any gnats in it, but strange. After a few fresh swirls nose of spices, tart tars, dusty fungus, but mostly muted. Eeney meaney miney moe! I grabbed a Scarpa by the... Yeah, after that Cote Rotie, hmmmm, it was a random pick, but my palate was craving natural and real so here we good. Huge fungus nose, black fruit with mushrooms. Yeast and fungus with cherries on the palate. Grit, tomato, bone juice, miso, teas. Lots going on in this lighter juice. Good stuff!

2 days slow-ox: Nose was very muted with some musky earthen notes. Palate was excellent with energy, stars musky red fruit, with tension, teas, tars, length. Love this!

Bought a case at auction, mainly because I love Scarpa, and will buy when ever I find it. I've had a few of this, but not this year. Excellent juice! Nose of clean fruit like from bucket fresh crushed with a few leaves added for flavor. Palate was real, was perfectly biodynamic is taste, balance, notes of cacao with acid of berry melange, stars, length, spices that carried on. Will slow-ox this bottle for the next 2 days.

Big fruit right after pop and pour. Somewhat one dimensional, dark purple fruits w tart acidity which worked with food, but was cloying once our food was finished.

On the nose the seven years of age is quite noticeable with notes of wood and earth notes. The tannic structure is pronounced but not quite that of what can be found Nebbiolo based wines. The age has likely also helped here. There is a high level of acidity which reminds one of sour plums, it leaves the wine feeling a bit unbalanced since no other flavours can stand the sourness.
