Complete surprise at how good this was. Possibly due to its age it smoothed and mellowed without loosing any fruit or nose. Huge fruity aromas on the nose - so much people 3 seats away could smell it. It had fantastic fruit. Light-medium bodied, hardly any tannins, and low acidity (possibly due to age). Cedar oak, vanilla, black currant, and a touch of cola on the nose. More of the same on the pallet with some really nice, firm tannins. Very well balanced. Fairly complex with a medium length finish. Very good.

Nothing about the appearance detracts from the experience (2 of 2). The bouquet is fairly neutral. Nothing odd or suspicious, but a light, pleasant smell that suggests a mild presentation and body (3 of 4). The presentation is indeed simple and enjoyable. Not overloaded with fruit, nor astringent with tannins. But not much to really talk about either. A big hit at our casual tasting of 9 different varietal reds in the $13-16 range, this was the second favorite after the Noceto Sangiovese. Smooth, fruity, light-medium body for a merlot, it didn't last long enough to see how it evolved with time. Overall a very nice wine for the price.

Blueberry with some licorice and oak on the nose. Blueberry with some vanilla, followed by a strong licorice/cough syrup flavor. The finish is oak and cigar box. Nice complexity for the price. If you hate licorice or cough syrup it might turn you off. Other than that it is a good value.

Wow, extremely surprised. Huge lifted fruit aromas emanted from the glass of this wine, even after the 2nd day. Awesome fruit. Light bodied, with hardly any tannins, but that racy Washington acidity that's made me a fan keeps this wine together. On the second day, it wasn't as simple as I thought.
