Okay...bottle # 3....who says Italian whites can't age well? On nose and palate: all notes confirmed from 2 previous bottles.....bone dry, rich, salty, with notes of star fruit added to the fennel, citrus, earth notes and minerals displayed here...as well as green papaya and toasted almonds as it warms up , after a 1 hour decant. $41.00 in Vancouver.....and worth every cent.

So....happily , bottle #2 of this wine. On nose and palate: very similar notes to bottle # 1 , last month.....but with more richness of body, the almonds appear to have a toasted character, also a curious underscore of bitterness ( in a good way) coupled with a ghost of botrytis and faint lemon curd.....during this blind tasting, tonight , one of the four tasters confidently suggested" a Les Clos grand cru Chablis , about 10 years old"!...Ha!...boy, was he …

This would puzzle anyone in a blind tasting.... On nose: shy minerality and faint dusty soil....hmmm. On palate: both flavour notes enhanced and awake.... In addition to yellow, tart plums, blanched almonds, and papaya fruit( more greenish , than ripe). As it warms up, after a 1 hour decant, a ghost of fennel, sea salt , and toasted bread.....organic and unfiltered( some haze in the glass) impeccably pure tasting , highly unusual and distinctive....NOT a shellfish wine....plays well with roast …

General Notes: Montenidoli 2015 Vernaccia di San Gimignano. This, as far as I know, is my first time tasting a Vernaccia, a sort of underdog grape in Tuscan whites (typically they are Trebbiano or Malvasia). Yum! This organic wine was macerated on skins and was pressed just after fermentation (the juice stems and bits and bobs all floated around together till the booze started happening) giving it a deep hue and a lot more character than a typical Tuscan white. …

consistent with previous note, this is a fantastic choice for a house white with a little of everything - citrus, orchard, mineral, soil, etc.;. it pairs with a wide group of dishes, and can also be enjoyed on its own, if that's what you prefer. Crazy good value, will definitely repurchase. Now thru 2020. recommended+ https://www.ItalianWine.blog

I really enjoyed this wine, and will be buying more of it. Medium straw color, bright and clear. Aromas offer a mixture of orchard, stone fruit, and soil at first, but by the second glass, a thin patina of tropical emerges. The med>full body is adequately lifted, with flavors largely following the nose, but underpinning it all is a lovely stony/mineral character that nicely offset my club sandwich - to the point that I finished both. EtOH is in balance, …

Produced and bottled by proprietor Elisabetta Fagiuoli since first vintage in 1971. 100% Vernaccia, organically farmed. Three distinct styles are made. "Tradizionale"has the must macerating long on the skins, and pressed just prior fermentation. A(ccuracy)=2: Med yellow/gold. Floral, herbal, mineral. B(alance) =2: Low key, robust components. C(omplexity)=2: Nuts, pepper, saline minerality. D(epth) = 2: Rich and savory. Wine Tally Score [2,2,2,2] = 8/10 Distinctive Tuscan white, continuing long tradition of both the region and the winery.
