Ooof, this is offensive to the palate tonight. I don't know enough to correlate physiological ripeness at the point of picking grapes with my taste perception but this is shot through with a nasty, tart green pyrazine streak from start to finish. Except for corked wines, I almost never pour a bottle down the drain - but this one went down.

Tasted over 3 hrs -med dark red -plum smoky black cherry -med acidity, med/med- weight sappy fruit forward ripe black cherry plum with a mineral note leaves a layer of dusty fruit residue on the fairly long finish, med- tannins -this has decent complexity and acidity that marries well to the ripe but not surmature fruit, rather lovely right now!

I don't agree with other tasters that this is underripe. If anything, I think some very ripe grapes made it into the blend, as there are clear raisined and cooked qualities to the fruit, but it does have some green notes that are pretty typical of Pinot, and it is certainly tart. The 2018 vintage was probably tough unless you were very selective, and I'm thinking Jouan threw in some less than perfect grapes.... I still like this quite a …

Agree with the previous taster. Though not without charm, this is drinking a little tart and lean compared to previous vintages, which is surprising, given the general warmth and ripeness of 2018. I bought lots of the 2017, but would probably not re-buy, even if this is unquestionably a well-made wine. Nothing wrong here, just lacking that “wow” factor that made me want to horde other vintages of this.

By far the worst of the last 4 vintages. Tastes tart and underripe to me.
