Arcadian, Sleepy Hollow Vineyard Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands

Very good with roast chicken. More red fruited and a bit less earthy than I'd expect, actually. Solid stuff, though.

Delicious red cherry and earthy aromas and flavors wrapped in a silky texture and culminating in a killer long finish. Love there older Arcadians!

This was spectacular, more evolved since our first bottle 6 years ago and just amazing - Dark with slight ambering on the rim, full bodied with a nose of cherry, plum, cola, cinnamon stick, spice, earth and vanilla, amazing structure and balance, well integrate and perhaps at it's peak, complex, sweet, smooth on the palate with terrific length, outstanding! (94 Points).

Decanted 90 minutes with benefit. Loamy cherries with smoked meat, herbs on nose (strange but alluring). Almost lush fruit on the palate, not particularly bright as many Arcadians express, but has a complex richness that is very nice. Not sure this should be aged further, but is quite fit.

Not as I remember this wine from 4 years ago. As others have mentioned, I think it might be on its downside as it didn't possess the bright full flavors that I anticipated. It seems, rather, to have that "I'm at the end of my road" sort of flavor. It's still able to be enjoyed, but this bottle tells me I'm glad this was the last one for this vintage.

14.0% alcohol. This wine seems a bit out of character. Red cherry color. Pretty nose of red fruit initially that becomes a bit muddled with earthy and dull spice notes. In the mouth, there is a lurking overripe note to the fruit, though it tends to stick in the red-fruit spectrum. There isn't the purity and precision you'd expect from an Arcadian wine here. It finishes a touch hot. Seems just somewhat disjointed and unsure of its personality. B+

Decanted 3 hours. Very dark color with a clear edge. What a bouquet! Very complex with smoky dark fruit, savory herbs and spices with some high toned cola nut notes. Rich and concentrated flavors show layers of black and red fruit with a bit of warmth which lengthens the very complete finish. Serve on the cool side and drink now through 2014.

Very disappointing effort as this wine is terribly out of balance: it is spirity on both the nose and palate. The 14% alcohol is not supported by sufficient fruit concentration in the wine. Its garnet rim already shows signs of development. On the nose, aromas of sweet wet earth, leaves, baking spices, cherries and caramel are overblown by alcoholic volatility. Friday night at home after football - a disappointing playoff consolation loss to Scotch Plains. Enjoyed the wine with Church"s (of all things). A nice bottle - a full flavored pinot.

A lighter styled wine than I expected from the Sleepy Hollow vineyard. Some alcohol showed and it didn't seem to have the fruit to put it in better balance. Not bad - just not as good as what I expected.

Decanted 2 hours. Briary berries, rusty iron, earth, smoke and savory herbs on the nose. Silky textured flavors of cooked fruit--cherry, rhubarb, cranberry--that are ripe, rich, and just plain delicious. Adequate structure and lift carry the flavors well providing good length. Hard not to drink now but should hang in there for a few more years. Now--2012.

Seems a bit of chatter on Sleepy Hollow lately, so I pulled one. Iinconsistency on this '03 on Cellartracker. Decanted one hour. Loads of funky, dark cherry on the nose. Smoldering. Some '03 heat. Palate is lush, earthy, woodsy, some mushroom. With time, more cherry and strawberry fruit amidst an earth-toned backbone.

Arcadian with Joe Davis (AOC Bedford) : Fascinating contrast to the 2001 and 2002. This is more obviously structured -- the only one of the trio where the tannin is perceptible through the gloss of the fruit -- and also lighter in fruit concentration, the mouthfeel more airy. Joe just attributes that to the relative youth of this bottle. I'm not so sure -- the other wines feel fundamentally denser. I guess we'll see.

Red fruits with mushroom, earth and coffee cake on the nose. On the palate sweet red fruit that blends nicely with the coffee cake spices. Wonderful silky texture that leads to a long soft finish.

Fabulous, our first Arcadian - With this example, I don't understand references to Joe Davis' apparent penchant for picking fruit too early (This is a big at 14%), it was very dark, rich and complex, notes of cherry, earth and oak on the nose, extremely smooth on the palate with excellent length, great effort!! (93 Points).

Dark ruby; mushrooms, strawberries, black cherries; strawberry jam, glycerin, medium body, good balance, good structure, lingering finish. Brought to Treadwell's. Quality California pinot with ripe fruit and subtle earthiness. Held up very well through courses of quail, foie gras and whitefish.

14% alc...medium-dark ruby... The nose begins really spicy, really high-toned sweet juicy bright red fruit... On the palate this wine is medium-bodied, spicy, great texture - weightier than I expected from the nose - glycerin, long and sweet fruit, lip smacking...the finish isn't terribly complex, nor is the wine, but is it unquestionably pleasurable. I don't know this wine has the longest drinking window either, glad I consumed this while waiting on the others.

Popped and decanted for about 3 hours. Initially has a rusty burnt siena/cranberry color that evolves more towards the cranberry realm after time in the decanter. White mushrooms and a citrus lifted, mildly gamey asian spice component on the nose. Medium bodied, and full of peppered rhubarb, mildly smokey provencal herbs and a juicy, orange citrus accentuated acidity that rolls sweetly in your mouth. The finish clings to you with saliva-grabbing tartness until just the tannins remain. Thought provoking.
