Encore ferme et droit, avec un peu de fruits, une belle acidité, des tanins présents mais agréables, une bonne longueur et une texture qui devient de plus en plus onctueuse avec les heures en carafe.

Based on my 1/1/2012 bottle, I thought I better open my last one before it was too late. What a difference with this bottle. Not light, not fading; this was somewhat tannic, somewhat closed, leather and some fruit, but not much. After about 1 1/2 hrs, a bit smoother and more open, but again, not much. This bottle needed more time, but I have no sense of what that time will result in. Interestingly, the cork in the 1/1 bottle …

Still has come decent fruit and not particularly tannic. However, a bit lighter than I recall, maybe beginning to fade a bit. Still fairly pleasant.

Summertime 2019 - Lake House and Arlington : All of the Italian wines on this list opened with a “poof” of fragrance once uncorked, and this one may have been the most alluring (like walking past a perfume counter). Rich and dense, with powerful notes of cherry, eucalyptus, and tea, and hints of beefiness. Mouthfeel is intense and the finish muscular. Seems ready to go and quite sophisticated for an entry-level wine. Love these 2008s – such a great vintage …

My last bottle of this - and a really nice one at that. Strong dark fruits (plums and cherries)mixed with strawberries on the nose along with some graphite. On the tongue this is a party of different flavors. Strawberries, raspberries, pomegranite and plums followed by grippy tannins and a spicy finish. Very nice - too bad it’s my last bottle (but nice to experience its evolution over time).

Me laisse perplexe pour ma dernière bouteille...

Floral nose w/ cherries, eucalyptus, herbs. Subtle reminder of drying tannins but well integrated and approachable. Drank from 375ml but would say this is in/near its prime.

RQP ****

From 375 ml, popped and poured. Opaque rosewood color. Nose and palate are both jam-packed with ripe black fruit, like perfectly juicy blackberries. A prior reviewer described this as "fleshy" and I am unable to find a better descriptor. Though the nose is quite full throttle with a distinctly hot whiff of acetone, this wine is starting to develop some interesting tertiary aromas of shoe polish, red clay and tree bark. This finishes extremely dry, with firmly clenched tannins. This …

Light ruby. Lovely weight and texture with supple mixture of fruit, herbs and spices. Naturally sweet but not overripe. Pleasing now and should do well over the short term.

Dark, fleshy wine with densely packed with ripe fruit. Impresses with layers upon layers of aromatics -- dark cherries, mint, field flowers, and hinting of animal, and orange rind smells in the aftertaste. Still tannic, but very drinkable now. A solid showing for an entry barolo.

CT Tasting Group (Eli's) : Full nose of red fruit, black fruit and currant with a pleasant herbal streak running through the middle and a slight funkiness. Tannins are firm but not overbearing. The mid-palate is lacking some body. Very dry finish. Good.

TTWG Produttori Blind (Casa di Rosso) : Very pretty cherry on the nose and palate, with a good deal of funk. Tannins kept in check, making this potentially approachable now. I enjoyed this quite a bit.

An utterly delicious wine. This fruit forward young normale is ripe, complex and enticing now. The nose is multi-layered, bringing forth waves of cherries, mint, cranberries; the tannins are as they should be and promise to reward patience. I find many youthful '08s to be fruit forward, succulent, and more focused than somewhat flabby '07s -- this is an excellent example of a perhaps an under-appreciated vintage.

e7 Bar Barolo. Heavy going. Thick palate, meaty and plenty of tar, tannin has grip but not particularly aggressive but they leave their mark. Bottle may have been open a little while? Reagrdless has presence and not a wine to approach without caution.
