Quite impressive. Drank immediately upon opening. Stunning. Only got better after 90 minutes. Like velvet after 4 hours. Plenty of life left in it, but absolutely ready to drink now also.

Still a very vibrant and solid Cabernet. Not much has changed at all from my previous notes. I look forward to trying the current portfolio of Piña Cabernets, they will be on my list of winery's to visit.

Dark and vibrant garnet /purple color with no bricking or brown color. Still showing nicely, with some life ahead of it. Dark, ripe berry fruit (blackberries, black cherries), plums and smooth. Medium and teetering slightly towards a being full a bodied Cabernet. 91+ Points. Day 2: Amazing this wine seems to have gravity, it has opened up fully, showing nice weight and depth. This is no doubt a full bodied and a very good Howell Mountain Cabernet. 93 Points.

Still alive and vibrant. Great youthful color, dark berries, cassis, and dark ripe fruit. This Cab has a lot of life ahead of it. Day 2: Precise, solid and drinking better than day 2, nothing was lost, I like it. There is a captivating appeal to dark ripe Howell Mountain fruit that is quite special and distinct. 2 bottles down and 2 to go.

I am sure glad that I acquired this wine. It is an excellent Howell Mountain Cabernet. Big, dark fruit extraction, and delightful on the palate and the scenes. This wine shows no sign of bricking color and I think that it has a long way to go. 2 down and 4 more to go! 90.8 Points.

I don't drink much CA wines but enjoyed this - sure its massive and the alcohol is a bit hot but the fruit is remarkable fresh and gorgeous. Drank with ribs on the grill w/ a honey-espresso bbq sauce - and it stood up well. No formal notes but overall much better than I would have expected.

Pretty tasty but somewhat hot with alcohol (15.5 Yikes, and it is pretty noticeable). A big wine that exhibits dark purple fruit, berry, cassis, black licorices, cedar and oak with good depth, with a nice texture and good lavish character. I would score it higher if it weren't so hot. 90.8 Points in my book and showing very well for an 2004. Decant and I think you are looking at 91-92 points as it will smooth out.

Held up well after all these years. At first opening, it tasted old...a lot of dried flowers. But after about an hour, all of the flavors integrated into a very nice wine

This could well be a wine at peak -- soft tannins and a full, complex finish. Typical Howell Mt. rustic, smokiness, with black fruit and coffee and tobacco notes. One of my favorites, and this reminds me why!

At first - very poorly integrated. After a few hours, it improved but not to a 92+ level. Decant for a couple of hours

Saturdays at One - Volume 15 : WIML90 Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of fertilizer, Briar patch, plums, black berries and shale. Rich flavors of currants, black cherries, black berries and plums. Medium acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink or hold. Noted something funky on the nose when first opened so allow for a quick decant to blow of that bottle funk.

The nose had smoke and black currant, spice and tar, dirt, and a bunch of oak. The palate was rich and thick, with smoke and tar, black currant and blackberry, and a spicy finish.

This is what I think of when I think Howell Mountain Cab. Decanted and drank over several hours, the wine changed throughout the evening. A great choice for NYE 2009!

Scents of eucalyptus, cinnamon, broccoli and coconut on the initial nose. Very intriguing. Follows to the palate with an explosion of milk chocolate cocoa powder. If you like chocolate cabs this in the one for you!

Drank with dinner at Primo in Tucson. Big and lush Cab, but well intergrated oak. While it could benefit from some more cellar time, this was excellent. Black cherry and loads of vanilla. Great stuff.
