From Coravin at a restaurant. This showed more youthful than I was expecting. It was nutty and slightly floral. There was ripe fruit on the palate, with medium acidity, low minerality and slight dryness on the finish. This was enjoyable and showed well for its level.

Medium golden yellow. Very ripe and grapey nose, almost with a raisin tone. It's also nutty and delivers some ripe apple and vanilla. This is old-fashioned as coming from an ancient time. On the palate, it's dry, but not 100% dry, round with no noticable minerality or acidity. A little fat, undefined and blurry. The wine has its good sides (it's nostalgic), but for a Meursault from a decent site, I expect more.

Grand Blanc at Aquarelle French Restaurant (Austin, Texas) : The least favorite wine of the flight, but nevertheless good, it may have suffered from being too young. Oak-y with a stinky, band-aid nose, it is a big wine that was rustic and earthy, tasted some of chalk and shell, was a bit New World. It had good balance and went well with food, especially the Epoisses cheese (cured in Chablis) and our salmon tartare crostini. Probably needs more time and …

For a reduced price, this was a fairly good Meursault, although it won't stick in my memory forever

Frustrating wine. Very young in appearance--I needn't have worried about premature oxidation. But the aromas and the taste are a jumble of individual components that never mesh. On the nose there is lemon, but also gobs of wood (which totally surprised me because I thought Jobard used hardly any new oak--or perhaps the oak just stands out because there is so little else in there in terms of substance). On the palate the wine seems stunted with a somewhat bitter, …

Some notes of peach and candied pear intermingling with a little toasty development. Nice texture in the mouth and decent complexity. Finishes just a tad short.

Very nice hazelnut butter nose, and more more butter in the mouth. A little more acidity and freshness wouldn't have gone amiss but I thought this was basically really good.

Decent enough wine, but comes nowhere near meeting the expectations I had for it, expectations based on producer, vintage, and appellation. Quite simple, subtle; in very good condition. Would be a nice Macon. Quality/price ratio is an issue for me here. In the "village"-level Meursault sweepstakes this isn't really a contender.

classic nose of nuts, hints of flowers, hints of mineral. this thing is a big fat butterball on the palate, with out-of-focus flavors. near the three hour mark if showed a bit better balance of acidity and fruit texture, but there still just ain't that much here in terms of foundation. thank goodness i didn't pay retail prices for this one. not that it's bad, cause it's not. it's just not distinguished in any way - there are macon wines …

a bit more out of balance than the last bottle. acidity elbowed its way through the lemon, pineapple and hazelnut. much more angular than I remembered and perhaps this will smooth out some by tomorrow. day 2 - flowers and rich butterscotch showed up and everything came into balance. smooth, very long hazelnut and butterscotch on the finish. beautiful.

vibrant fruit, racy in the mouth and a bowlful of delicious roasted nuts on the finish. leave the last bottle to age for a few more years. this has lots of life left in it. very nice wine.
