Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard Pinot Noir Matteson Vineyard

Had this wine last night at the Winery pickup party. Absolutely stellar. Bright cherry, soft and round on the nose. So delicate with soft fruit and fine tannins on the palate with bracing acidity. This is why we age wine. Thanks to Jeff for pulling this out of the cellar and sharing. Pretty much perfection in my book.

I boughtnandozen of these at a bin-end sale about 10 years ago and thought I'd drunken them all up -- but I found this orphan as I rummaged rough my cellar the other day. It is definitely a wine that needs drinking up: it is light red with browning at the edges. The bouquet is an intriguing mix of mushrooms and underbrush; ther is little primary fruit expression left.
