Domaine du Château de Chorey (Germain) Beaune 1er Cru Teurons

From what was likely a less than optimal bottle (there was seepage up to the edge of the cork), this wine still was very deep and powerful. Cherry, plum, beef bouillon, iodine, and menthol. Medium-plus acidity. The finish is a touch rustic and dusty (likely due to storage conditions prior to my taking hold of them). It manages to be an impressive wine and gives hints that if it were in better shape, it could last another decade or two.

Acquired upon release and hasn't seen a temp above 53 since. Tasted several years ago - a bit of the stinky 1990 tannin note. That has all cleared. A wine that really evolved after opening. Within three hours gained weight and complexity. Pure rich fruit on the black fruit black cherry side across the palate with perhaps a mineral note. Nice finish but the mid palate is still dominant. Tasted at the domaine side by side with the 1985 Teurons. No formal note. Fantastic. This wine was absolutely singing. The '85 was similar, though with predictably more evolution.
