drunk with 81 Comte de Champagne. nose was the more toasty of the pair, almost coffee-like. Initially we thought this was un petit bouchonée but in the end we thought it was just closed. Good acidity on the palate. This turned really nice after it opened up some 30 minutes in, with caramel on the nose.

"90th" Joint Birthday : Caramel, toast, coconut and lime on the nose. Palate is rounded but still shows very good acidity. Actually picks up with air, showing more depth of aromatics and a fresher palate. Time to drink but holding up very well.

Deep golden in color; the nose shows some toasted walnut, hints of sherry and bruised orchard fruits, honey and floral notes. The palate has some effervescence still, but it is mostly a creamy and soft feel. The balance and acidity is still quite nice. I found this very enjoyable and it exceeded my expectations.

60% PN, 40% CH. Medium gold in colour. It is surprisingly fresh for a wine of more than 30 years old. Fruit still stays and a deep creamy brioche aromas. Good structure and long finish. 希仕会。

Christmas Day 2012. The cork just slipped out; not auspicious! Sure enough, all the pétillance had dissipated, with not a bubble in sight. The colour, though, was a lovely golden, translucent oak, with a small degree of brightness. The nose? I fought for traces of new-mown grass (=old-mown grass!) and citrus, but that was all. Clearly, this was defunct champagne, more like a kind of Tio Pepe with a little brown-sugar. There was certainly acid, and a faint hint of …

Sampled 1/29/11. Color a deep golden color from age. The bead was all but entirely gone. Bummer. A moldy funk on the nose for about 30 minutes which blew off. You were left with the remnants of an exceptional Champagne. Butterscotch, toffee and truffles in huge volumes on the nose and palate with some Mandarin Orange marmelade on the palate too. A deep, full bodied and interesting aged white wine that was not unpleasant. Kind of like a slightly past …

Tasted on an evening with 12 other great bottles as Dom Perignon 1990, Salon 1996, Duval Leroy Femme 1996 and others. These Champagne is opened at his peak: What a great brioche, ripe fruit and almonds nose!! The Champagne was alive as it should be, with also in the mouth lots of almonds and other nuts. This was definately for most people the wine of the evening! We were glad the wine came out of an excellent cellar!
