100% New French. Maturing nose, dark berries and some herb. Palate is dark berries, sweet, spicy exotic. 80 year old vineyard and half ton per acre. I'd buy this -slightly less expensive than the Command.

WOW, belle bouteille celle-ci. De la soie, tout en douceur et en velours. Beaucoup de fruit mais avec une colonne. Des cerises et des bleuets avec du thym et du poivre. Un peu de cèdre et de menthol lui apporte fraicheur et complexité. Les tannins sont fins et la finale hype longue nous laisse sur une impression de chocolat. SUPERBE et tout à fait délicieux.

Second bottle of my case. This wine is just excellent. Expressive nose, plums and blackcurrants are prominent with slight notes of forest floor and garrigue. The palate is just fantastic: this is a mature wine that shows still lots of balance with nice acidity, silky tannins, plums, blackcurrants, green vegetable notes, cocoa, some graphite. Cabernet (and blends) celebration (Ben and Estella's place, Parramatta) : Served blind. Ripe black fruits, very slightly reductive, sweet spice, slight alcohol warmth, with agitation a little jubey blackcurrant, cedar. Medium plus intensity acidity, lovely tannic burr is slightly coarse, ripe black fruits, a little alcohol warmth intrusion on the finish. Hmm. Obvious quality in that ripe extracted way but not for me.

Decanted 30 minutes. Long legs on the glass. Alluring nose of dark cherries with some eucalyptus notes. The palate is intense, complex. Awesome acidity, integrated tannins - lots of precise fruit - dark cherries, blackberry paste - then secondary notes of aromatic wood, a tad of white pepper, cocoa, some black tea, a bit of licorice. Tannins are almost entirely integrated - and the ending is very long and pleasant. A rockstar wine in a great drinking window!

Better than previous bottle, or at least I was able to pay attention a little better (last time it was the second bottle of the night, ya see). So much extraction. Thick dark fruited wine, with some great cola notes (spiced brown sugar?). Finish for days. Amazing how long this one will probably last under that screw cap.

As expected from Barossa, a pretty inky cab, heavy extraction, and with the screw cap a wine that might last forever...really! I am always surprised that these capped wines are still so fresh given their age. This one will live a while. But drinking it now is a good choice. Second bottle of the night, so not the most detailed notes. But delish, really.

This is seriously good wine, deep, dark and brooding. You feel the old vine sap and it is glossy, without a hair out of place. It’s core of cassis is super-intense, and length of flavour drives on and on.

Very nice showing. Decanted and consumed over 5 hours. It threw very little sediment. It was plush with blue fruits but the most notable note I kept getting was cubanello peppers. I was surprised this was an Australian Cabernet. It reminded me a bit of northern Rhone blend. The wine is in a great place now. I expect it to be good in another 5 years as well although I'm not really sure how the screw top affects the aging …

Last bottle. Two hours slow-ox. Rich blue and black fruit on the nose and palate. Plush layers of fruit but balanced and integrated/resolved tannins. Very good with griled beef and vegetables. For me, not one to hold expecting magic tertiary development. Drink sooner than later.

PnP. Drank nicely right out of the bottle with a few minutes of air. Fresh cherry pie fruit with vanilla and bakers chocolate overtones. Lovely minerality and plenty of grip. Classically Australian. Paired beautifully with the richness of our grilled NY strip steaks. Fantastic QPR @ $55.

Full nose of coffee, bitter dark chocolate, subtle capsicum that transfers onto the palate. Initially earthy, forest floor flavours, but still plenty of blue fruit - plum, blueberry, blackberry. Grainy tannins, not quite the full mouth feel or length that I've experienced from other vintages of Ashmead, or other top tier Barossa cab. Still, good flavours, and while it'll continue in the cellar I doubt it'll change much from here.

Drank over 3 hours. NDP at Davyd's. Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour with garnet edge. Legs. Expressive nose of dark blue fruit and a floral touch. Concentrated on the palate giving broad mouth feel adding a vegetal streak before a long finish. Reasonable balance for a big wine, tame tannins. If an NBA game this is late second quarter with the starters warmed up and back on the court after a brief spell. The flow of the game is established and it a good one.
