A good effort from a hot vintage, this is powerful and brooding. The nose initially has dark berry fruits, dried violet, damp earth, sous bois, worn leather, and Asian spice. The palate is big and powerful with good depth. The nose seems to fade fairly quickly and becomes muted, but the palate remains open and supple. Bilson's #1 : There were some frowns around the table due to the poor service, but it was fun watching peoples expressions change so dramatically after the first couple of sniffs of this wine. Intoxicating, swirling, perfumed aromas of cherry, spice, strawberry and tea. Long, delicate, balanced and with wonderful texture.
