2018 vintage

Blackberry fruit that is on the edge of jammy, smoky bacon, savoury herbs, parma violets and wet granite. Good structure and acid with a bitter coffee finish. Nice medium body weighting. Currently lacking a little depth and fruit on the palate. The fine grain tannin built over two hours and suggest improvement over the next 5+ years. Would never be confused with Allemand but very satisfying and a great value.

Herlig Cornas i den lettere ende. Herlig åben og landlig i næsen med stald, hø, ymer og dernæst solbær, brombær, sorte oliven og til sidst bacon og sort peber. Lækkert! I munden er vinen også lidt “bondsk” med kød, mørke bær og mærkbare, men fint integrerede tanniner. God semifed tekstur og en dejlig laaang eftersmag. Allerede drinkableklar og vil formentlig kunne holde mange år endnu. +10-15 år.

Popped, poured, and drunk last night. This was good, but rather primary, and not nearly the equal of the '19, tasted a few days ago. The '19 was outstanding, this pales in comparison: "Nice wine" vs. "Complex." 89/100.

2018 vintage

A delight. In the olive tapenade with black pepper arena. No lack of fleshy, meaty elements. Tannins are starting to relax. This will be a very fine drink in ten years, alas it was my last bottle.

Poured a glass before decanting. Dark in color (though more red than black) with decent red legs. But this is not your traditional Cornas. It is forward and fruity, even a bit jammy, with very pure ripe raspberry obvious in the nose and mouth. Also some nice herbs. This might age, but don't hesitate to try this even at this tender young age, because it is incredibly approachable. 5-13-16-8: 92/100.

Medium bodied, traditional styling. Tasted PnP, plus 8-10hr slow ox. Nose is immediately open with conifer forest, anise, olive tapenade, purple fruit. Palate is loud and tight: more smoky olive, spiced cooked berries, black cherry, herbal woodland tones, gamey hints, white pepper that integrates with air. Just arrived today via FedEx. Doesn't disappoint. Saturated dark cranberry color, just a shade less than completely opaque. Good red legs stain the glass. Nose is full of concentrated Syrah fruit with lovely olives at the fore. Already drinkable! Ripe, rich, fruit to behold, this is amazing for such a young Cornas. Pop and pour. Much more open than I expected. On the nose: blackberry, cola, olive brine, soft game, violets. On the palate: lovely acidity, red fruit, hi-toned, lightweight, but good density.. Nice tang on the bright finish, which shows soft tannin. Loads of potential.

First sip tells you that this is Syrah. Not my favorite varietal, but this is a well made wine that speaks of it's terroir. I like my northern Rhones (and new world Syrahs) with a little Viognier added. You pure Syrah tasters will love this!

Pretty darned good bottle of Cornas. Awfully green when I first popped it, there was so much pyrazines that several folks called cab franc, which was understandable. But it blew off over a couple days to reveal a really sturdy wine with green olive, juicy blackberry, and black pepper. I really enjoyed it by the end.

Served blind. Guessed St Joseph. Strong black pepper noes mixed with some gamy and meat notes. Black and purple fruits, quite coarse tannins--but lots of depth here with a wild or "savage" feel. Lengthy charcoal, flint, and pepper notes. Really nice young french syrah.

First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield) : Served blind. Aromas of prune, plums, raisins but also a little eucalyptus (slight stalks?), biscuit, toast. Medium plus intensity acidity, alcohol heat, prune, plums, blackberry, chalky tannins and it's more stemmy on the palate than on the nose. Hmm. Young. I guessed Northern Rhone, probably Cote Rotie 2016

Dag 1: De klassiske noter af slagterbutik, peber og oliven. Men her er god frugt, modne mørkebær, modenhed og lethed i den forbløffende åbne næse. Meget juicet i munden, høj syre, lethed, åben og letløbende, slet ikke hvad man ville forvente af ung cornas. Drikker fint selvom alder helt klart give kompleksitet

Quick note: Quite available with a classic raw and "high toned" syrah boquet of red and dark berries. Laurel leafs, some pepper as well as. Powdered tannin with slightly drying and acidic grip in the finish. Nice and easy. 88-89 points. Would drink on the younger side.

Had this wine at a restaurant. Nose and taste was like a big pot of homemade strawberry jam with whole strawberries in it. Not at all unpleasant but maybe a bit to much.

Just a great wine with varietal character (black pepper, faint olives) but some individual personality that I think comes from the winemaker. It’s high toned, with great acidity and structure. My first bottle had me wondering if it was a little too glou glou to cellar. This bottle confirms strongly that it will keep for a long time

Electric, deep purple, brimming with wild black and blue fruits with violet on the nose. Tart fruit on the plate with a black pepper finish, and some VA, but for me a little is just right for this style. Not so sure this is traditional Cornas but man is it yummy. Blind I would have guessed St. Joseph
